I REALLY, REALLY HATE TO GIVE THIS PLACE A POOR REVIEW. I know that the owner will respond, but he really needs to pay attention.
My family has been getting carryout here for several years now. We have never dined in. The workers are all really nice. I'm sure the owner really takes pride in his establishment. I mean, every time I come to pick up an order, the atmosphere is really great. Near 5 Stars for that!
Now is the reason for the lower stars. The prices have slowly increased over the years and the portions have become much smaller. The gourmet pizza has become just 'good' to my family. I usually get Fettucine Alfredo. I add chicken and mushrooms to the pasta, but that costs extra. The last three times in the past 6 months I have ordered it, I get about 5 slices of a really small, bland breast. The portion of pasta is so small that after eating, I am still hungry. I am a pretty thin guy, too. For the price of pasta, I can get the same portion a few doors down for less price and better taste (and the owner knows which place that is).
So now I have now decided to make (from scratch, mind you) my own pasta at home with meat sauce for a family of 5 and it costs less than DeAngelo's Fettucine Alfredo with (ala carte/additional cost) mushrooms and tiny chicken breast sliced on top. I have also tried other local pizzas, and they are of similar prices and, often of similar taste now. We stopped ordering appetizers a while ago, mostly because of price and quality.
Sorry, but DeAngelo's has lost a faithful customer due to prices vs portions/quality. I hate to sever ties, but pasta is cheap, so no need to skimp. Chicken is not a rarity or that costly. No need for ala carte items. Gourmet pizzas (no shortage of places in Bloomington) is now comparable to other places in value and taste.
Again, really sorry for...
Read moreToday was the worst, worst, worst experience ever. It should get no start. I made a reservation midweek for a party of 10 for Saturday(9/7) at 2pm, i arrived at 1:50 and was told that a table wasn't ready, the server was hustling to setup the table and then never came to let me know it ready, I had to walk in to see if he was done, since he was waiting on other people. I asked again is the table ready and he said oh yea. 8 of us sat down while waiting on the other 2 people to show, Louis D. ( server) never came by with water, didn't ask if we wanted drinks, until I spoke up and ask for water and we are ready to order drinks, place my appetizer order early while we still have him there, forgot to bring water to 2 of the people, had to ask him again. his attention differently was not on us. We never received the bread and oil on the table. The food was just meh, my dish the shrimp Gambari was tasteless had no flavor at all& dry, shrimp was old. Margherita pizza was tasteless, others said the food was just ok. I was very disappointed in the service and the food, its like the server didn't care knowing he was getting a tip no matter what. If i could he would not of received a 20% tip as it was not deserved. Pretty bad when I had to constantly ask him for stuff. Think twice before going especially with a large crowd that they can't handle. And this was a special occasion we were there for. The owner really needs to train their staff better and to be more attentive. Especially when there is a large party call in another server. I will never return to this place again!! Don't waste your money going here. I'm sorry I did, He definitely did not deserve...
Read moreA Fantastic Night Out at DeAngelo's
DeAngelo's really knows how to make a meal feel special. I recently went with some friends, and everythingâfrom the food to the atmosphereâwas spot-on.
We kicked things off with their caprese towers, which were as delicious as they were beautiful. Perfectly ripe tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fresh basil, all drizzled with just the right amount of balsamic glaze. Alongside that, they served warm, crusty bread with a flavorful garlic and oil dip that we couldnât stop eating.
For the main course, I went with the cheese lasagna, and wowâtalk about comfort food done right. The layers were perfectly balanced: tender pasta, creamy ricotta, and a mix of sauces that made every bite better than the last. It had a great mix of tangy marinara and rich, creamy flavors. Honestly, one of the best lasagnas Iâve had in a long time.
I paired it with a glass of their house Chianti, which was smooth and full-bodied, a perfect match for the richness of the lasagna. On the lighter side, we also shared the DeAngelo's salad, which had crisp greens, flavorful kalamata olives, and a refreshing vinaigrette that cut through the richness of the main dishes.
And then there was dessertâtiramisu. Creamy, light, and just sweet enough, with that perfect hint of espresso. It wrapped up the meal beautifully and left us all completely satisfied.
DeAngelo's really hit every note. Great food, good wine, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger and enjoy good conversation. It was a fantastic night out with friends, and Iâm already looking forward to...
