It is rare that one has an opportunity to treat themselves to an experience as lackluster and as disappointing as the one that my party experienced today at Denny’s. In a meteoric crash to the bottom of the list of of quality sit down restaurants, this Denny’s managed to waste not only our time, but theirs as well.
10:45am Arrive at Denny’s and wait to be seated.
11:05 Seated at table
11:15 Drink and food order is taken and all is well with the breakfast world.
12:20 After after making mention that we havent received our food (at this point several patrons have both been sat, eaten, and prepared to leave) but that we need drinks refilled and no one sitting has been offered coffee, we were met with a response that was lukewarm at best, and abhorrent at worst. VERY shortly thereafter our food is brought out.
This food was so cold that butter wasn’t melted, cheese wasn’t melted, and one could literally stick their hand in the food because it was at room temperature. At this point we bring it to the attention of waitstaff who informs us “we knew it was cold and thought we would see what you said about it”.
No.
12:25 We are assured (I use this term loosely, we honestly given almost no response other than “we will replace it if you want” ) that our food is going to be replaced and done in 15 minutes....
12:40 A patron is sat and receives his food and we have yet to be given refills or receive our food. Game over.
After asking to speak to the manager two times and having seen the manager walk away both of those times, we call for him and this third time he deigns us important enough to seek his council.
We expressed our discontent with the manager and he asked if we would like a coupon as though one might wish to REfrequent and establish with service so unacceptable and incompetent.
To be clear, everyone in our party has worked food service before and we understand that the food service industry is difficult and trying, however there is absolutely no reason for the degree of apathy, contempt and disorganization that was witnessed at this establishment.
In these trying times when dining out options are limited and you have to really decide where to spend your money, it would be HIGHLY advised that you go elsewhere.
Pro tip: we took our business to Original Pancake House and were sat/had our orders taken within 30 minutes of...
Read moreIt took my friends and I an hour and a half to be given our food- only for it to be cold. Our coffee went cold, our drinks were empty and no one had seen the waitress in thirty minutes. When we finally saw her, it was because the table that had just been seated needed attention. They got drinks AND FOOD before our new food (because we asked for our food to be recooked) was even out. When we addressed multiple waitresses, all they could do was basically throw the general manager under the bus. No one was willing to accept responsibility and we eventually left, ironically right before the food was ready. The lack of leadership or support from the manager coupled with the lack of obvious accountability of the waitress from said manager made for a nightmarish experience in trying to get served. In addition, when we left, all we were offered was a coupon. He wasn’t going to give us any kind of discount on our food and was overall smug with his attitude. No apologies, no willingness to prioritize our service, nothing a leader should actually do. Honestly the most disappointing part was we were so excited to go get Denny’s for breakfast at 10:30 this morning. But by 12:40 we were frustrated, ignored, and absolutely starving. Please do better. If there’s anything that should be taken out of this situation, it’s that the leadership has not established a well run team because every person in that restaurant dropped the ball today. It’s time to re-evaluate your leadership and retrain your employees as to how to...
Read moreMy friend and I ate there last night. The restaurant was really clean and they had decorations up for Halloween all over which was awesome. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive. The food quality was okay. My eggs were great and my bacon and sausage was good too. I ordered biscuits and gravy and it was disgusting. Definitely the worst biscuits and gravy that I have ever had before. The biscuits were hard and flat enough that they looked like cookies. The gravy was gross and not the kind they used to have. It had a sweet after taste to it and it was kind of oily. The sausages weren't mixed into it either but just laid on top. I had ordered extra biscuits at the beginning if the meal and they were just as disgusting.
They are not your average light and fluffy buttermilk ones but flat and hard. Another thing that has changed is that rhe prices have gone wayyyyy up. It cost 46 dollars before tax and tip and I just got a soda and one of the slams. My friend got a slam and a cup of coffee and a soda. Overall it was 52 for 2 people. That is way too expensive! Then at the register they suggest you tip 18 to 20 percent. Wtf?! I don't mind tipping but dang. I won't be going back to this Denny's again unless I make sure I order something on...
