Fat Jacks Bar — Restaurant in Bloomington

I'm going to give them an extra star for having trivia, a good beer selection, and nice staff. At least during the week. On the weekend it's filled with drunk college kids. This makes sense since you have to be drunk to not notice the horrible state the place is in. If you are looking for that this is one of the better bars in town for that. If you are not you probably want to stick to going on the weekday. If they put some money into fixing and cleaning up the interior it would be a good place to go during the week or weekend afternoon. Food is not very good either though. It's more of an afterthought. They could definitely get me to stay longer if they had better food. I like the different food items they have but they just don't execute it. They don't have much of a kitchen, ingredients, or cooks so it comes out lacking any real flavor. I will say some of the wraps and paninis are good. But to their credit they don't seem to want to do all that & do the college bar thing well. Probably the worst bar I’ve been to. Walked in with friend’s for the first time last Saturday to discover how dirty and old the interior is. Was way too busy to get food so I ordered one drink, said I was paying with a card and not opening a tab, and left in like 15 minutes. They charged me $11.50 for a vodka red bull on special and claims it’s a card minimum fee and a 15% gratuity for a not closed tip. It’s absurd they wouldn’t say that as I would have paid in cash but it’s not posted anywhere or on their website and no one will tell you. Just don’t waste your money here because they will up charge you $10 on a $2 drink and just steal you money.

The other person in our group where all of us were over charged and called. 4 people paying with a card and the same member of your staff is incapable of mentioning that to any of us. Never have been somewhere with a minimum where they don’t tell you so how about you train your staff better? Lady wouldn't accept my ID because it was expired. I mean come on now obviously it's me in the picture I'm not even from around here im 34 yrs old. I was telling the guy I just met that obviously its me. He was pretty cool guy. We were talking about the interior design and the copper ceiling and I would of liked to have stayed to finish our conversation to learn more about the history of the building.
