I hate that I even have to give 1 star because we LOVE LOVE LOVE this place, however lastnight was the most terrible experience I've ever had anywhere. Reservations for four at 6pm upstairs, we arrived and were greeted right away and sat. There were 2 tables that didn't have their food and 1 that was just finishing up, the blonde waitress (she never told us her name) took our drink and app order, received everything promptly, (from the other waitress) at that point we ordered 1 beef ravioli, 1 chicken parm, 1 Italian sausage meal, 1 large Baldini and 4 slices of garlic bread. 2 other 2tops arrived and were waited on, served, given their check and gone by the time we realized how long we had be waiting for our food (52minutes into our visit).. the blonde waitress checked our order said kitchen was behind (even though ppl got their food that had arrived after us) the pizza had 5 minutes left but our pasta just got done, I told the waitress to bring pasta and EVERYTHING WAS COLD, EVEN THE PLATES!!!! I'm not sure if the waitress forgot to enter something or what, if that was the case mistakes happen and we would have been fine but instead she blamed kitchen again. She was on her phone, my son ordered hot tea and the whole hour we were there was never asked if he wanted more hot water. Im well aware how hard it is to get workers, so when you actually get them they need to be trained. Do better!! We will be back but I will refuse that particular waitress. Never have I walked out on a ticket until lastnight, and I understand more than most people that complain, 25 yrs spent in the...

My girlfriend and I stopped in Bloomington during a recent road trip and stumbling upon Lucca's was one of the highlights of the trip. We pulled into town around 6 on a Friday night and decided we felt like Italian. We accidentally found Lucca's and thought we'd give it a try. We walked in and the place was packed which we took as a good sign. They asked if we had a reservation we asked how long the wait would be and they said 20 mins or so. We decided to wait (standing room only) and the owner asked if we wanted a drink while we waited. He brought us our drinks and we waited for a bit until a couple seats cleared at the bar. We ordered pizza and some pasta. The pizza was out of this world good! The pasta was tasty as well. My girlfriend has a slight allergy to fennel and didn't realize the meat sauce would have fennel in it so she didn't much of it. The owner checked in on us several times while we were there and when the bartender (who was our server - he was fantastic as well) noticed that she hadn't eaten much he asked if everything was alright. She off-handily mentioned her allergy. The bartender talked to the owner who then got us some cheese bread for free so she didn't leave hungry.

To sum it up - great service, ridiculously good pizza, wonderful pride of ownership. 10/10 would eat here anytime and may make the 6 hour trip...

Very good server. Attentive, knowledgeable, intuitive. Came with a group. Enjoyed a few pizzas, but wished we'd asked for extra cheese on them. Loved the thin crust. Felt that the appetizers were a hair overpriced. Onion rings we're good. Fries were skimpy for the price and size. Chicken livers were dry, dry, dry...which alway makes me sad.

The largest issue was getting in. We tried the week before and were told it would be an hour wait and we'd have to eat upstairs if we didn't have a reservation. That info would be good to have online. We ended up elsewhere that night. But when we called in a reservation for this night I was put on hold while someone checked the schedule...then told it depended on be when and how many (which could have been shared before they put me on hold) and after the reservation was cleared was told we could only do it if the table was cleared in 90 minutes for a later reservation. Part of me understands the desire for clarity...and the other part wonders if they really want customers. At least wonders if they want new ones. Between the two experiences, it was off-putting. We'll visit again, but I doubt it...

This is one of our favorite local date night places, especially when we have an event downtown Bloomington. This time, we had something scheduled at the BCPA across the street, and it was the perfect spot to eat ahead of the show. We always order an A La Baldini pizza... even if it's to reheat and eat later. We LOVE the cracker crust and the delicious flavor/ texture combination of toppings. We also wanted to try the antipasto platter, and I'm glad we did. As far as appetizers go, it was light, flavorful, and refreshing. We both ordered the steak sandwich with mozzarella and grilled onions. The fries were surprisingly addictive. I couldn't stop eating them, even though I was getting full. The highlight for me was the coffee from my favorite local place, The Coffee Hound! I needed the caffeine but loved the flavor. I have always sat downstairs and love the vibe, but this time, I sat upstairs and have to say that I enjoyed the space and the legroom. It was quiet enough to carry on a conversation, and the staff was attentive.

I’ve lived in the area for 3 years and finally stopped here for dinner. We did not have a reservation, but we were able to quickly get a table. We ordered some cheese garlic bread and meat ravioli as appetizers - both were very good. The garlic bread had a crispy crust with a soft fluffy center with the perfect amount of flavor. The meat ravioli was well breaded with well seasoned meat inside. Both come with marinara dipping sauce. We built our own thin pizza with sausage and pepperoni - OH my GOSH! It was crispy and had a delicious combination of flavors. I will definitely be coming back. And to add the cherry on top the tiramisu was cold, creamy and rich. It was the perfect way to end such a great meal. Our waiter was phenomenal; very attentive and friendly. He took the time to have a conversation even being busy.

Little hidden gem we stumbled upon as we were heading home and passing through the town. I ordered the Lemon Butter Garlic Shrimp Pasta and he had the Pasta Primavera with Shrimp. We ordered a Luca Supreme pizza to take home with us. Service staff was very attentive and provided great customer service. I finished my entree at the restaurant and he has more than enough left of his entree to take home once we finished our salads. We were offered bread with butter, nothing spectacular about the bread, but it was good and helped as we waited for our food. Very happy we made reservations as they were pretty packed for dinner service on a Saturday evening. We sat upstairs and ate and we were offered a beverage for the road.
