Monroe Convention Center — Attraction in Bloomington

First of all, the Bloomington Convention Center is a beautiful location. We were able to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all at the same location. Everything was beautiful! But the real appeal of the Bloomington Convention Center is the support received from Lauren Dexter. She had helpful input with the details of the wedding since she had so much experience with the space. Not to mention she was always there via email or phone to answer my endless list of questions or requests. She has great taste, a heart of gold and is extremely accommodating and this comes through in her commitment to her work and to her clients. I would highly recommend Lauren Dexter with the Bloomington Convention Center for your wedding needs!

In addition, we want to thank and give compliments to Janet, the chef and her team! The food was beyond excellent, so much so that many of the guest have asked if we can get the recipes used. There was not ONE complaint about the food, on the contrary, every guests loved the food and the service. Janet went above and beyond to make sure that our request were met. In order to ensure that every part of the menu was perfect, she offered us not one but two food tastings, made dishes from recipes we provided, and even specially handmade a salad dressing to be placed at each table. We had our wedding reception at the Monroe Convention Center in June 2020 and everyone involved was amazing. During the entire planning process this spring, Lisa kept us informed and was so patient with us as we asked questions and clarified what needed to happen to make sure we, our guests, and the staff were all kept safe. We chose to take our guest list down from 80 to 30 and we switched to a different room to ensure the setup would be conducive to distancing while still having a dance floor and bar (you know, the important stuff). Everyone’s temperatures were checked upon arrival to the building and we wore masks in the hallways and when social distancing wasn't possible in the room. Staff members wore masks at all times. We created a socially distant seating chart, and it was really nice that everyone wasn’t just squished together. Our original plan was to do a buffet dinner, but COVID changed it to a served meal, served drinks, served everything. And boy did the staff serve. I think each family had their own staff member and they were all so helpful and kind. If I needed anything, someone was there. The convention center staff took every precaution and went above and beyond to ensure that we still had our wedding reception and everyone remained healthy. The three Rotary Clubs of Bloomington held their Centennial Gala May 10, 2018 at the Monroe Convention Center. The pre planning meeting with staff and the final planning meeting were extremely helpful. The catering staff helped us when we completely forgot one table of guests, never missed a beat. Poliet, efficient and very accomodating. Markey's helped run the projection for our event, sound perfect for singers, great atmosphere and co-ordination. Lisa managed all of our changes and requests was a delight to work with. When things happened unexpectedly, they made it work. Our event was a total success!
