Incident 1 of 2 in the past month: Went to location at about 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Store was deserted, save the four employees having a chat behind the counter. My mistake number one was not walking out after waiting three full minutes for one of the four employee to stop the conversation and actually do the job of taking our order. Second mistake was to give them a friendly reply when I got a snarky apology from the staffer for not breaking up their social time sooner... That gave them the impression that I was going to be okay with them now continuing the conversation as they slowly made the three sandwiches I ordered. Which of course, they couldn't make the sandwiches and converse at the same time, so the sandwich making of course slowed to a crawl, and stopped completely several times. My 8 year old, who recognizes rudeness when he sees it loudly said, "Boy, I'm REALLY hungry." Which finally prompted my TEN MINUTE in store order to mercifully end.
Scenario 2 of 2: Subs so fast I'll freak, eh? I was freaking alright when I placed a deliver order, for like 4 sandwiches, on a WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 7:30 PM. I called the store twice, both times, "It's on the waaaay!" Second time, which was nearly 9pm, called the store to ask for a refund, and cancel the order as it was clear they had no intent on bringing me anything. Had to drive to Mc f'n Donalds at 9pm to feed the kids even later than what was already late enough at the time I called at 7:30!
In that time, I went to McD's, ordered the food, got it with a smile, and in a very short order. Arrived at home, we ate, and here come Jimmy... with a bag of mushy sandwiches begging us to take them... Yeah, no. I wanted that refund more than to be taken in by the ol' we're just going to throw them away ploy. If making and delivering sandwiches cuts too deeply into social time for the staff, far be it from me to intrude on that ever again.
I won't bother them at this location. I can go to subway to be treated shabbily and get my food directly without having to feel guilty for interrupting something...
Read moreI was a regular at this location for over a year. A few months ago the management changed, and if there had been another JJ in town, I’d have gone there. I’ve seen the manager be rude to both customers and employees, blatantly in front of other customers. There were several times I felt sorry the teenagers had to deal with such a narcissist, as he’d talk to them as if they were his minions to boss around for the hour. I’m a huge advocate of team work in the work place and here, it appeared the team members didn’t have any voice. There were two times the manager truly pissed me off. Where I live, there’s no ice machine. When I stopped by after work to get dinner I asked to take a cup of ice. He said, “If you weren’t a regular, I’d have said no.” It’s a cup. Charge me $.25 if you so unnecessarily please, but don’t say something like that. The second time, I’m not sure how it came about as the guy talks so much, but he mentioned how his sandwiches were so good that he doesn’t need a rewards program. Yeah, “he”, as if he’s the CEO lmao. And he’s doing hand motions as if he’s putting on a show. Overall, the food is good, the manager is rude, and I generally leave feeling sorry for whoever is stuck with him. They’re probably just kids in school trying to make cash, and he’s not treating them well. I’ve finally moved, and my main hope is that this post helps those team members. Thanks for making me all my sandwiches and handing me some...
Read more1:06 - I placed order via phone - told about 30 minutes for delivery (around 1:35) - rec'd call from JJ - driver can't find address, I confirm correct address (SECOND time, I explain when I order as I'm behind the mall) 2:09 - I called to check on order. Was told it wasn't in the store and that I should have it. I should just wait. 2:32 - I called again. Chris answered and refused to tell me who the store owner was. He told me I should be more understanding because it's snowing. (Yep, this is MN. It does that). 3:12 - SERIOUSLY someone walks in our door carrying our food. OK, SERIOUSLY! OVER two hours later?? We did not accept it, as we were in the middle of our lunch delivered from Erbert & Gerbert's.
Note: Jimmy John's is literally across the street from us. Erbert & Gerbert's is across the city and made to our store "during this treacherous snow storm" in 20 minutes.
NOT the first time w issues from this store.
It's filled w incompetency and excuses. Many of the staff behave this way (not all). I'm just guessing that this arrogance filters down from the owner. (With whom I cannot communicate w directly because Chris refused to tell me who he/she is).
Erbert & Gerbert's is wonderful, btw. They were super friendly, efficient and the food...
