If your in the area of Valley Blvd and Cedar in Bloomington make the short trip over to Mikel's Donuts & Subs. The bread of their subs is what has me coming back year after year along with the mayo dressing they use. The bread has a flakiness on the outside with a slight toast to it. The inner part of the bread is soft and very flavorful. The dressing reminds me of a ranch style dressing with a mayonnaise base. A large sandwich will fill just about anyone up and to top it off you get a free donut when you order a large Sammy. I highly recommend getting their glaze donut. I have eaten at this restaurant for so many years. It is hands down my favorite sandwhich shop. I am sure they make their own delicious bread. It is always soft, chewy with little bit of crumb/crunchiness on the outside. I would always order extra veggies including pickles and then I found out they sell their delicious pickles. I always make it a point to get a whole pickle now. Veggies are always fresh. My sub of choice is a simple turkey with provolone and avocado. Talked with owner and he stated business had been slow due to traffic. I understand that it is difficult to make a good profit, but when I looked into my sandwich, there was hardly any ham, and at $8.00, I was hoping to be satisfied and make it my go to. Here are the pictures, hoping someone else will have a better experience because of this. The Steak Sandwich was delicious and worth the price. I suggest passing on cold subs from this establishment.
