Quaint locally owned spot, love that they serve breakfast all day (well until 3 pm when they close). You put your name on a clipboard just inside the door and they call you inside when your table is ready. We had to wait awhile for a table, but they have outdoor tables and chairs you can sit and wait at…which in theory is great. Not their fault, but there was a pile of (dog…hopefully?) feces near the outdoor tables, kind of off-putting. Almost left because of the smell. But glad we didn’t. The ambiance is quirky inside the pretty small dining room, lots of different signs and photos (some cool, some sorta creepy) all over the wood paneled walls. Fun to peruse them while waiting for food, several conversation pieces. Once we were seated, our server came quickly and was very friendly, and got our coffee nearly immediately. Waters and coffees were refilled with consistency throughout our meal. I got the “hangover cure” (not because I was hungover but because it had a bit of everything from the breakfast menu to sample) with a biscuit and subbed brown bacon gravy for white sausage gravy (never been a fan of white gravies). I appreciate they were willing to alter the dish for me. Unless you are a die hard sausage gravy fan, I recommend the sub, the bacon gravy was great!!!! The grits and the bacon were also, and my eggs over medium were cooked to perfection. The sausage was a bit flavorless, more like overcooked ground beef. I just ate around it since there was more than enough food on the plate! And the biscuit had good flavor was just sort of dry and heavy. The only reasons for the reduction of one star. Wish google would allow half stars. The hash browned potatoes were amazing though, clearly hand cut, well seasoned, and homemade! I’m glad I overheard a server say to another table to just go to the register when they were ready to pay, know that they don’t pick up the check from the table! I’ll def go again and now that I know my preferences with their offerings I’ll be able to tailor my order better! For sure recommend this place for a home cooked and reasonably...
Read moreThink twice about going here. My roommate and I were touring Bliffton around lunchtime recently. We wanted to go somewhere local. We chose this place because it looked like a locally owned, casual place. What a mistake. When the waitress finally appeared from somewhere in the back… (a “regular” had to back in the kitchen area to get her for us) ...I ordered the steak and cheese sub. While the bread was good, the meat was rubbery. Earlier, I had asked the server if I could get lettuce and tomatoes on the sandwich. She replied “sure“ and walked away. Then when I got the bill, they charged me $1.50 extra for lettuce and tomato. (.75 each) Look...I’m not here to light a fire about $1.50. But I am upset that No one told me about the upcharge when I ordered it. If it’s written on the menu, I sure didn’t see it… And I looked. When I went to pay and asked to have the charge removed, The woman who was working the register looked up and growled “I have to pay it”. Holy cow. Now it’s a test of wills. I stood my ground and insisted that I was not going to pay it. Finally she relented and removed the $1.50 off of our $25 lunch. On a mission to have the last word, She finished our interaction with the following… “next time you go to a restaurant you need to read the entire menu and see what stuff costs.” Talk about having a case of the Mondays. My roommate was also disappointed in his meal as he felt he overpaid for a very basic sloppy Joe. P.S. they charge two dollars extra for fries instead of chips at this restaurant… So a steak and cheese plus fries will run you 11 bucks… Plus tax and tip… So you’re at 15 bucks for a sandwich at lunchtime. How is that a great deal at a...
Read moreI drive to Hilton Head twice a week, but had never stopped by until, looking for directions online, I happened upon reviews for this restaurant. The two outrageously (and poorly written) negative reviews sealed the deal; I felt they were written by a nasty competitor, or by someone who was waging a personal vendetta, and I had to gather information necessary to write my own review, which is as follows: Holy Moly! How have I wasted so much time just driving by, and not stopping in?! I will never make this mistake again, and in the future will plan my trips around a visit to this deliciously delightful-from the coffee to the crabby scrambled eggs to the “cinnamon bun from heaven”-gem of a restaurant! Thank you to all the staff! The moral here is: ignore bad reviews that were clearly written by someone whose sole purpose is to besmirch the...
