Basilic Vietnamese Cuisine — Restaurant in Boca Raton

My wife and I went here the other night. First impression, the hostess was fairly rude in her introduction and seating procedure. After being seated, we had to wait about 15 minutes to even see our waiter for the first time. He was nice enough, but did not speak very good English, which made communication difficult and frustrating.

After ordering cold sake, it did not arrive for 20 minutes (a chilled, sealed bottle that they had sitting in the mini fridge), and we only received it because I asked another server for it. The food was great, no complaints for the rest of the stay.

This morning, I checked my bank statements and saw that they over charged me by $8, reflecting a total that was completely different from that on my check. I called to rectify this problem and an employee immediately told me they were "very busy and to call back tomorrow". I proceeded to ask for the manager and he said they would not be in until 5pm. They will be getting a prompt call.

I specifically tipped cash, which I am now lead to believe the server put in their own tip even though I had crossed through the line and input the total with a dollar sign. Good food, bad service and sketchy waiters. I would avoid this place. Will not be...

This has become a fairly standard place for me to grab some lunch. Their spring rolls and beef pho are consistently excellent, and in fact I benchmark other places spring rolls against theirs. I usually get them with just shrimp, and they have a higher percentage of lettuce vs how other restaurants make them. But the real kicker is their delicious peanut sauce. Combined it makes for a fantastic appetizer.

I also get the shaking beef and sometimes the seafood if I'm there for dinner with people from work. But the service is always quick and friendly, and they do have some limited outdoor seating in the back if that's your preference.

Parking is a minor hassle and the nearest free lot is a short walk away. Everything else is either paid street parking or parking garages. They've recently had to make some adjustments with the cost of ingredients (i.e. reduced portions) but you wouldn't really know unless you've been a regular for awhile. Terrible experience we waited 2 hrs they forgot about us then they stuck us in horrible table where many people sit at once, ok I wanted pho then they ran out of noodles rice noodles gave us egg noodles which smelled like dirty feet and the pho beef meat was like a leather shoe, I am sure they had it previously frozen it took it out in desperation and put it in boiling water...very sad. It was cold for Florida so every one went to get soup!! They will always sit big groups first even if you are before them I guess they see $ $ with more people!!
