How Ya Dough'n was born out of owner Garrett Goodman's pizza making hobby. A transplanted New Yorker, he started making pizza in a portable pizza oven called a Roccbox. After mastering pizza with store bought dough he ventured into making his own. He started giving his pizza away to friends and neighbors during the pandemic and they encouraged him to consider turning his passion project into a business. Garrett and his wife started making and selling pizza a couple of nights a week from their house. When they couldn't keep up with the demand they turned How Ya Dough'n into their full time business . How Ya Dough'n opened in Boca Raton on Federal Highway in August of 2021. Word of mouth soon spread about the quality ingredients piled on all-naturally leavened sourdough pizza and fired in a pizza oven from Italy and the rest is history.
I met my girlfriend at How Ya Dough'n for a week night dinner. They do take out/ pick up at the counter and they have a few tables inside and couple outside. The menu is a straightforward mix of staple pizzas, specials, and salads, The specials right now are a Caprese, ranch pizza, and the schoenfeld.
We started with an order of the kiddoughs, pillow soft dough bites drenched in garlic and chili flakes with your choice of dipping sauce (we chose the vodka). They were yeasty one bites were heavenly drenched in a delectable sauce and we gleefully finished the entire bowl. For our meal we ordered the OG with soppressata, basil, and hot honey. I loved the thin, crispy crust and the char imparted from the oven. The spiciness of the meat combined with the sweetness of the honey is an addicting combination. You could taste the artistry in every bite.
There is a cooler in the front where you can grab soft drinks and local brews. I would have loved a Dr. Brown Cream Soda but I am trying to drink more water in the New Year. The pistachio pizza looks intriguing and I would like to come back and try that. Since they love a pun, here is my final assessment. Their pizza can't be topped. It might sound cheesy but no matter how you slice it, How Ya Dough'n has the best...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to How Ya Dough'n, I discovered one of boca raton’s hidden gems for artisanal pizza and Italian-inspired comfort food. This spot blends quality ingredients with innovative twists, making it a must-visit for any food lover.
We started with their signature meatballs, which were perfectly tender and flavorful. The marinara sauce stood out for its fresh, well-balanced taste — a classic done right. Another highlight was the Dough Bites with vodka sauce. These soft, pillowy bites, paired with a rich, creamy, slightly spicy vodka sauce, were a standout. The balance of flavors in each bite was both comforting and exciting.
Pizza is The Star of the Show No visit would be complete without trying their pizzas. The Pistachio Pizza is a creative take on tradition, offering a unique combination of nutty flavors and perfectly baked dough. For those who prefer a more classic choice, the Pepperoni & Onions Pizza delivers the familiar, satisfying flavors of a traditional pizza with a gourmet touch.
The atmosphere at How Ya Dough'n is cozy and inviting, with a laid-back charm that makes you want to stay for hours. The staff is what truly elevates the experience—they are welcoming, attentive, and passionate about what they do. It’s clear that they care about providing not just a meal, but a memorable dining experience.
How Ya Dough'n is more than just a pizza spot; it’s a neighborhood favorite in the making. With outstanding food, a warm ambiance, and exceptional service, it’s a place I highly recommend to anyone seeking comfort food with a gourmet touch.
A visit here is worth every bite,...
Read moreSouth Florida’s residents almost always live in gated communities with multiple sub divisions being located inside the gate. Most people know each other and word travels fast. This resident had started to make pizzas literally out of their garage and all residents flocked like birds. Not only was the taste and quality of the pizza surprising for a family’s home, but the customer service is unbridled for any south Florida restaurant let alone a home. I have yet to see a business or person be as heartwarming and welcoming as them and I KNEW this was going to be a hit. I had a decent experience my first time but they insisted I give them another chance to rectify said experience. I went in yesterday and not only was I touched by the hospitality and warmth of the staff but the pizza was SUPERB. The crust is textbook coal oven and the mozzarella fits perfectly to the light and flaky yet crispy crust. The marinara sauce is perfectly balanced of tangy vs sweet, with the perfect coordination with the fresh basil. Speaking with them whilst waiting for my meal was AS GOOD if not better than the pizza itself. I walked in very hesitant, but walked out literally wearing one of their shirts because of my experience. Going to a hole in the wall pizza place in NYC is an absolute thrill, BUT walking into a pizza place as a customer but leaving as a member of the family is priceless. I will forever return and refer many people to this establishment. If you’re in boca or even south Florida this is an absolute must....
