The Blue Dog was referred to us by a friend who lives in the area. We were at the Children's Science Explorium and Sugar Sand Park and looking for a spot for lunch. The brunch menu caught our attention, not to mention this was super close to where we were too.
You can find The Blue Dog located at Town Center at Boca Raton. It's next to The Container Store. When I walked in, it wasn't what I expected at all. The name sounded fairly casual but when you walk in, you'll find a gorgeous modern space with an elegant touch.
When I walked into the restaurant, I also noticed a sign by the main entrance that said "Kids Eat Free EVERY DAY!" Say what?!? You heard me right, kids under 12 eat free every day with purchase of entree! What a bonus!
Our server was Phil and he was incredibly attentive. I love his chill and calm demeanor. He was also kind enough to acknowledge our children's good manners each time they said please or thank you, he would thank them for having such wonderful manners. Needless to say, Phil always went above and beyond to ensure we had a good dining experience.
We ordered the huevos rancheros, chicken & waffles and grilled avocado eggs Benedict. The kids got spaghetti with butter, fries and pancakes with fruit.
Everything was fresh and delicious. The three adult meals were all on point. I personally got the chicken & waffles because my husband and daughter got my other two favorite brunch items and I knew I could try their dishes as well. Fries were hand cut had skin on it and came out hot and crispy. All dishes had great flavor.
My chicken & waffles was BOMB!!! It was served with two sunny side up eggs which seemed like a lot so I put the eggs on the side so my chicken & waffles didn't get soggy. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffles were fluffy and light. They had me at the jalapeƱo infused maple syrup but honestly, I couldn't taste the jalapeƱo. I wish it was spicier! Still delicious. The chicken & waffles were a perfect bite together! So happy with my dish.
Loved the ambiance, service and food all in all. Highly recommend. Apparently The Blue Dog is a popular spot in New York and this is their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately I canāt give 0 stars for the service because 1 is the minimum but I will say⦠1 star is way too generous. Iāve never given a poor review before but I will this time (I eat out 5x a week this says a lot).
My friend and I sat at the bar for a quick lunch. We were 2 out of 4 people seated at the bar. I want to preface with: I work in the service industry and I do not take these reviews lightly. the bartender did not care at all. She was not busy and standing at the service well on her phone and talking to coworkers the whole time. I would be embarrassed as her boss to have someone working for me who genuinely did not give a care in the world about the reputation of this company.
Firstly, our salad took 20 minutes to come out. We had to ask a server and of course it was ready sitting in the window the whole time.
10 minutes after we had ordered our food, the bartender came back to me to ask me what I had orderedā¦
My friendās food came out with things she told our bartender she cannot eat. Which easily couldāve been corrected if she had came to check on us when our food came out, but she did not. My friend was still hungry afterwards because she couldnāt eat the food so she ordered a smoothie. 20 minutes later.. the bartender come up to us and word for word says āwhat was the smoothie you ordered again? I got distracted at the service barā..
Meanwhile We had watched her sit on her phone and talk to coworkers that whole time. This is when we asked to speak to a manager. The manager was kind and offered to take 20% off of our bill and removing the smoothieā¦mind you during this time, my friend still was hungry and hadnāt received her smoothie. Then the bartender charges us the initial amount without removing the smoothie so we had to wait again to correct the charges. Then my friend waited 10 more minutes to receive her smoothieā¦. Absolutely embarrassing.
Itās shocking the manager even allowed us to pay a dimeā¦Unfortunately we do not want a free smoothie or free anything⦠just to go to a restaurant where at least someone can pay attention to fulfill some sort of basic standard. Absurd is an understatement. And still didnāt have the heart to not tip. We will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently dined at Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar in Boca Raton, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, the welcoming atmosphere and stylish decor set the stage for a wonderful evening.
The highlight of my visit was the impeccable service provided by the staff. Manager Anthony went above and beyond, acting as our main server and ensuring that every detail was perfect. His attentiveness and personal touch made us feel truly special. Alika was also extremely helpful whenever we needed something, enhancing our overall dining experience.
A special shoutout goes to bartender Joey, who crafted some of the best cocktails Iāve ever tasted. His expertise and creativity were evident in every drink, making the bar experience memorable.
Now, letās talk about the food. We started with the Spicy Salmon Crispy Rice, which was a delightful combination of raw spicy salmon atop crispy sushi riceāabsolutely delicious. The Spinach Dip served with tortilla chips was creamy and flavorful, a perfect appetizer. The Burrata was a standout, with its fresh burrata cheese paired with a beet medley, balsamic glaze, microgreens, and cherry tomatoes.
For the main course, we indulged in the Crunchy French Toast. The pullman bread topped with rum flambƩ caramelized bananas was a heavenly treat. We also tried the Oreo Crusted Waffle, which was as decadent as it sounds and perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Chef Chapo did an incredible job with each dish, showcasing his culinary talent and attention to detail.
To top off our meal, we couldnāt resist the handmade desserts by Ana. The CafĆ© con Leche, with its Oreo base, vanilla coffee cheesecake, and whipped cream, was a perfect blend of flavors. The Eight Layer Chocolate Mousse Cake was a chocolate loverās dream, with layers of chocolate cake, mousse, and ganache creating a rich and satisfying dessert.
Overall, Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar offers a top-notch dining experience with outstanding service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere. If youāre in Boca Raton, this is the place to go. Kudos to Anthony, Alika, Joey, Chef Chapo, and Ana for making our visit...
