Dive bar with bad energy.
Showed up for some drinks and wings. The lady bartender was wasted and acting like a spoiled teenager. She threw a menu at us. Never offered food. Made it known we were not welcome by avoiding us. At one point she said I want you all to know that I Hate you while she poured half our beer on the floor.
If you want to be merry and have a good time make sure to keep going and look elsewhere. If you want to pay 30$ for two coronas and be scolded for not being local enough this is def the place for you.
Would NOT recommend!
Response to owner -
My experience at The Duck Tavern was deeply disappointing and reflective of a serious lack of professionalism and hospitality. Beyond the visibly disinterested and dismissive attitude from staff, the owner's response to critical feedbackâcalling a patron 'bitter' and accusing them of lyingâis shocking. In the hospitality industry, addressing customer concerns should prioritize empathy, accountability, and a genuine effort to resolve issues, not defensiveness and insults.
The ownerâs response undermines trust and suggests an unwillingness to improve or take responsibility. A professional establishment would have investigated the matter thoroughly and responded constructively, regardless of whether they agreed with the review. Obviously your bartender doesn't remember last night because she was wasted.
If this is how concerns are addressed publicly, it leaves one questioning the standards upheld behind the scenes. As someone who values a positive and welcoming environment when dining out, I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a place that appreciates and respects...
Read moreAs a Boca local for over 40 years, I've seen it all. The best, the worst, and everything in between. I recently had an opportunity to match up the food from my most favorite local dive, with the the same exact dishes from the highest rated restaurants in Mizner Park. 4 separate times in the last week, I went downtown and ordered something from a restaurant that specializes in that particular cusine. I won't name them here, but you can easily find my other reviews. Everyone of those dishes I ordered for dinner out, I bought for lunch the next day at the Duck Tavern. I can tell you with absolute certainly, that the Duck can produce food that is far superior to any other venue around. And that's just the food. The drinks..... Forget about it. These days it seems like you have to beg to get a decent drink. But here, they poor the drinks the right way by default. Food and drink= best in Boca. Atmosphere: Darts, Music, Locals, Girls, Boys, Strong drinks, Good people. These folks now how to hustle to accommodate you and your guests. Hillary and Sara May always know exactly how to take care of their patrons. Not only the food and drink, but taking the time and effort to get to know everybody and, their stuff they walk in with. I can always count on a good word and an encouraging perspective. Thanks so much to The Duck Tavern for always being their, consistently great for the last 20 years. Looking forward to...
Read moreStarted a tab when I walked in and gave the bartender my AmEx Platinum metal card to start a tab. It's heavier than a standard card. At the end of the evening he hands me a plastic red Citibank Visa card with a different name on it. I told him nicely, that wasn't my card. He tells me that is the card I gave him. I tell him its a different name, its not me. I pull out my license. He says that he believes its not me but that's what I gave him. I was in town for 4 hours after landing at FLL for business. The last time I had my card out of my wallet I checked into my hotel and put that card in the chip reader, then back into my wallet. Noone else touched it. Anyway, he looks around the register and tells me a again that was what I handed him. I told him that he gave my card to someone else. He then asks me if I am accusing him of something. Now I'm yelling at him. Yes, I am accusing you of giving my credit card away to the wrong person and not man-ing up to it. He lied about me providing a different card, but John Sherborn (I think that was the name on the other card) was left without a card too. Even after I told him that wasn't me. He was more than fine with letting me keep the wrong card. Anyway, the bartender is an incompetent jerk who refused to take responsibility for his mistake. Honestly, a simply "I messed up, I am so sorry" would have diffused a loud public expletive filled argument and prevented...
