It was 1 PM on a cool Thursday afternoon when we decided to visit V&S Italian Deli. From the moment we pulled up, the charm of this old-school spot drew us in. Outside, a handwritten chalkboard proudly proclaimed, “Not Just Subs… All Homemade,” listing comforting Italian staples like lasagna, stuffed shells, and eggplant parm. With those dishes and their inviting promise of fresh subs, it was easy to see why this deli has been a local favorite since 1985.

The space inside was small and bustling with lunchtime energy. The line of customers moved steadily toward the counter, where I couldn’t help but notice the sandwich maestro at work (my own nickname for him). He seemed to hold court as he chatted with regulars, assembling subs with flair and presiding over trays of steaming chicken cutlets and fresh, crusty loaves of Italian bread. The rich smell of toasted bread and bubbling cheese hit us the second we stepped in, carrying us straight to a comforting place that felt like someone’s kitchen—a kitchen where you knew the food would be good.

After scanning the menu board filled with classics like the V&S Special, Cuban sandwiches, and chicken cutlet parms, we placed our order. I went with a large salami and cheese sub, loaded up with all the trimmings—lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, onions, oil, and vinegar. My dining companion opted for the Italian combo. We took a spot outside to enjoy the cool weather and waited for our sandwiches, soaking in the hum of the deli.

When the food arrived, it didn’t disappoint. My salami and cheese sub was perfect. The salami, sliced impossibly thin but generously stacked, had that satisfying balance of savory and tangy. The provolone was fresh, mild, and distinct enough to hold its own among the bold flavors. My companion’s Italian combo earned similar praise for its precisely sliced meats that blended seamlessly in every bite. Both sandwiches came on crusty, tender bread dusted with sesame seeds, adding a nutty crunch that took things up another notch. Every ingredient tasted remarkably fresh, from the crisp lettuce to the tangy oil and vinegar dressing.

As we ate, the sandwich maestro’s energy stuck with me. There was an air of pride in his craft, from the way he handled the food to the way he engaged with customers. This wasn’t just a place to grab a sub—it was an experience steeped in tradition, personality, and unmistakable flavor. Whether it’s the homemade pasta dishes or their signature subs, V&S Italian Deli feels like a snapshot of something timeless. It’s a place where the food is as warm and inviting as the...

As a lover of Italian cuisine, I am delighted to share my incredible experience at V & S Italian Deli & Subs in Boca Raton, Florida. This hidden gem offers a mouthwatering array of authentic Italian sandwiches, salads, and deli items that transport you straight to the heart of Italy. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, coupled with the exceptional quality of food and service, has left an indelible impression on me and has quickly turned V & S Italian Deli & Subs into one of my favorite go-to spots.

Upon entering the deli, I was immediately struck by the delightful aroma of freshly baked bread and the tantalizing scents of Italian meats, cheeses, and spices. The display case was filled with an impressive assortment of cold cuts, cheeses, olives, and marinated vegetables, all of which looked incredibly fresh and appetizing.

When it came to ordering, the helpful and friendly staff guided me through the vast menu, offering recommendations based on my preferences. I eventually settled on one of their signature subs, and I was not disappointed. The sandwich was expertly crafted with a generous serving of high-quality meats, cheeses, and toppings, all nestled between slices of perfectly crusty yet soft bread. Each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures, making it one of the best Italian subs I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

In addition to their delectable sandwiches, V & S Italian Deli & Subs also offers a variety of homemade salads, pastas, and desserts that are equally tempting. The portions are generous, and the prices are more than reasonable, making this a fantastic option for a delicious and satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

In conclusion, V & S Italian Deli & Subs in Boca Raton is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Italy in a warm and welcoming environment. The exceptional quality of the food, the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the charming atmosphere have all combined to create a truly memorable dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend V & S Italian Deli & Subs and eagerly await my next visit to this delightful...

Located in the heart of Boca Raton near the intercoastal, V&S Deli is a hidden gem that has served up authentic Italian subs and more for over 35 years that will transport you straight to the streets of Rome. From their classic Italian cold cut sandwiches to their perfectly cooked Arancini rice balls, every bite is a symphony of flavors that will leave you wanting more (if the portions were not so large.)

Our recent stop at V&S Deli was nothing short of exceptional. We started off with an order of five Italian cold cut sandwiches, each piled high with freshly sliced meats, cheeses, and vegetables. We also ordered the Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil sandwich, which was a simple and delicious sub that we added a balsamic glaze and olive oil and it showcased the freshness of the ingredients.

We were treated to exceptional service from Paolo, Jr., who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the masterpieces he was creating.

Paolo, Jr. recommended we try the chicken Fontina sandwich and the Chicken Parmesan Sub with Vodka sauce, so we ordered one of each to taste. The Chicken Fontina sandwiches were juicy and flavorful, with the melted cheese adding a touch of richness. The Chicken Parm was a true star, with the tender chicken and tangy Vodka sauce perfectly complementing each other. They were both mouthwateringly good.

We also had to try the Arancini rice balls, which were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. These little (actually rather large) bites of heaven were the perfect ending to our meal.

V&S Deli is a must-try for anyone looking for authentic Italian subs in Boca Raton. The food is outstanding, the service is impeccable, and the space is cozy, but inviting. Make sure you call ahead to order and they will have your order ready when you arrive. Otherwise you may be in for a wait because - the word is out, this place is outstanding. Thanks, Paolo, Jr., for an outstanding meal served with a smile. We will definitely be...

I was on a quest for the perfect sandwich. Not just any sandwich, but one that could transcend the ordinary and catapult me into a world of culinary delight. Little did I know, this journey would lead me to V&S Italian Deli, a local hotspot for true sandwich aficionados. The adventure began when a local resident, clearly a sandwich sage, insisted that V&S was the place to go. We called ahead, and with a promise of just three people in line, we made a beeline for the deli. However, by the time we arrived, it seemed the entire town had the same idea – there were now 25 people in line and a 30-minute wait. My excitement mingled with curiosity: Could any sandwich be worth this? As it turns out, the wait itself was an experience. The line was populated with the most interesting mix of people. It was a delightful prelude to what awaited us inside. And then, there was the bread. Seeded, crusty perfection that could have made a plain slice of cheese sing. But V&S doesn’t stop at the bread. Their ingredients are fresh, varied, and practically beg you to create a masterpiece. The condiment and cheese options? More extensive than a Vegas buffet at the Wynn. When my vegetarian sandwich finally emerged, it was an epiphany. This wasn’t just a sandwich; it was a Michelin star experience tucked between two halves of heaven. Every bite was a revelation of flavor and texture, an homage to what a sandwich could and should be. The next day, I shared my discovery with another local who had somehow never heard of V&S. Less than 24 hours later, I received a jubilant text: “You were right!!! It’s delicioso 😋” accompanied by a photo, all now devoted converts to the V&S way. In the end, waiting in line at V&S Italian Deli wasn't just about getting a sandwich. It was about joining a community, embarking on a culinary adventure, and discovering a new standard of sandwich excellence. Next time you find yourself in line at V&S, just remember: Great things come to those who wait… and wait… and wait. Trust me, it is worth every minute.

40 years in, V&S is sacred cow territory. For some Boca lifers, this place is holy ground. And I get it -- when it's good, it's really good. Let's start with the gripe: V&S is practically wallpapered in Boar's Head branding. That might fly at Publix for a Pub Sub, but in a real Italian deli? Hard pass. Cold cuts here usually don't do it for me. That said, they're not 100% Boar's Head -- there's Citterio in the mix. On one visit I took home a prosciutto, roasted red pepper, red onion, and fresh mozzarella sub on a seeded roll. No Boar's Head in sight, and it was excellent. Where V&S truly shines is the hot food. Chicken cutlets, meatballs, sausage, and especially the eggplant all have serious fans. I tested it with the eggplant parm sub -- because eggplant is a benchmark most places fail. Here, it's done right: layers of properly seasoned fried eggplant, good-quality mozzarella, a ladle of rich sauce, and that big seeded Italian torpedo roll. The thing is massive; I barely managed half of a half. At $21 with a Manhattan Special (no diet version, sadly), it's easily sharable. On another visit, I rolled in too late for breakfast (they cut off at 11), but the staff kindly cleaned the grill and still made me a bacon, egg & cheese. Eggs cooked perfectly to order (over easy), bacon crisp, and again -- that monster seeded roll. Service like that earns real points. And don't skip the prepared foods case -- I've raided it for meatballs, arancini, antipasto salads, and more. All have been solid and worth taking home. Verdict: V&S remains a Boca institution for a reason. Forget most of the cold cuts. Stick to the hot sandwiches -- the eggplant parm proves they know what they're doing. And if you're early, don't sleep on breakfast.
