Came here with a friend for early dinner service.
First thing, her drink came out almost curdled. Sent back. Server was very apologetic. Second drink much better.
Open the menu to select some apps, glass broken all in the menu. Again, server very apologetic. We both have been in service industry (my friend actually owning another local spot), mentioned we totally understand weird stuff happens. He assured us that the menu would be fixed immediately.
I had a salad with my entree. Lettuce was literally frozen in parts. I am not a picky eater, but I could not eat this.
Our entrees arrive. Friend had asked for malt vinegar with her order. Didn’t come with the entrees. Finally found someone to get her some malt vinegar about 15 mins from entree arrival (seemed almost like break time and no one was around nor checked on us). Food cold now.
All of these things we understand and ultimately don’t mind. The biggest issue came at the end…
We are sitting there as Friend is finishing her drink. Lady comes up and pretty forcefully asks us if we needed anything else, then very obviously looks at her watch. We got the hint loud and clear that they wanted to turn our table (yet many other tables were open). We started wrapping up, friend finishing her drink.
The best part is when the same lady comes back about 15 mins later (friend just barely finished her drink) and plops a reserved sign down in front of us. Tells us this is a really coveted table and she has a reservation in 10 mins for it. Again, loud and clear lady.
But it goes on…. Lady ends up putting her hand on my shoulder as she is awkwardly telling us we need to leave and squeezes it. Uhm excuse me - don’t touch me?! My friend and I were pretty taken aback by her blatant acts.
We packed up and chatted outside to finish our convo, which shock surprise no one was seated at that table 10 mins after the alleged reservation was expected.
Ultimately, we understand everything that happened up until crazy lady kicked us out. We were there for about 2.75 hrs, but we enjoyed drinks, apps, salad, entrees and another drink. Considering the slow service we didn’t overstay our welcome enough to elicit the treatment at the end. Wont be back...
Read more3 of us went there yesterday for a birthday lunch. First time there. Food was good; love the hot fresh cut fries. Fish & Chips were excellent. Most fish served like this is heavily breaded with a butter milk batter and is way too much breading and very greasy. But this product was very good. Service was good. A couple of negatives; the tables are sticky and need refinished. Also, this is an open air place when the weather is nice, like today. No screens in the windows. Don't appreciate doing battle with the bees and flies while trying to eat and have a conversation, hence the 3 stars. May come back when it's colder and the windows are closed and try it again. BTW...the response below seems to assume we were sitting outside. We were sitting inside to avoid pests. When the windows are opened and there are no screens, the bees and flies get inside. Flies are some of the filthiest critters around. Having them on your food is disgusting. You should make more of an effort to keep them out of the restaurant dining area. I've been in food service for 35 years. I know of the problem and how hard it is to deal with. But leaving the windows open without screens? How is that going to help? UPDATE; on Father's Day, after a nice afternoon ride on the Harley, we stopped for a mid afternoon dinner. The food and the service were excellent. Being a warm/sunny day it was nice to have the misters on. We enjoyed it so much, four of us are going there for...
Read moreOh so close to a 5 star, but Yay! I'm a fan-- seriously.
Driving down the ever so adorable 13th street aka the North End we stumbled upon this great place. We walked in and was immediately seated. We requested a table in the all window room looking out onto the street. Right across from us was the very large fire pit table which kept us toasty.
The service and food were excellent, but the bar is where the lack of star went. My dining companion ordered two drinks and they were both pretty bad and she didn't drink them. Our food was super yummy. Me being a light eater I got two chicken skewers with peanut sauce and a side salad. The peanut sauce was a texture that I never experienced in my life-- it didn't taste bad, but I didn't know the health benefits so I just stopped at tasting t. Their chicken was delicious. It came on two very hot to touch metal skewers. The side salad was a side salad-- nothing special and even basic really.
My dining companion, Yesi, got a ramen type dish (sorry the name escapes me) and added shrimp. The shrimp was super big and flavorful. I had one and gave her a piece of my chicken. I had to chew for a long time on that shrimp that's how big it was.
The menu was full of amazing stuff to eat and I'd love to try more soon.
Thanks for reading. I hope you are having an...
