Really good Carne Asada (Grilled Steak) Burritos and Tacos. The Carne Asada Salad is good too! It reminds me of the Mexican food back where I am from (San Diego, CA) and some of the places I have been to in New Mexico. This time I got the rice and beans on the side rather than in the California Burrito with Carne Asada (grilled steak, rice and beans, and cheese). I was a little bummed they didn't have guacamole (they do now), but it was still really good with sour cream! They also have a lot of different good hot sauces! I love the spicy red (it's kind of orangish) and spicy green (habanero, I think). I recommend trying this place! Update#1: The Shrimp Tacos are also not bad. Some of fam love the Shredded Beef Tacos (which are hard to find here) in Duro (hard) shell. My fam also likes the California Burrito. I prefer the rice and beans on the side (which aren't bad). I've asked them to make a California Burrito SoCal style once (French fries inside instead of rice and beans) and they did! It was good! I've also had the Carne Asada Burrito with chorizo, cheese, and egg to make a breakfast burrito. Also good! You can't go wrong with this place! Update #2: I tried something different today! I had the Quesabirra Tacos and Green Chicken Enchiladas. The Quesabirra Tacos were so good! They are petty much cheese quesadillas made with corn tortillas with marinated shredded beef. You have to order the meal to get the dipping sauce/soup (I think it's the juice the meat was marinated and the tacos were cooked in). The enchiladas were not bad. I prefer red sauce enchiladas, which I don't believe they have. Update #3: We did DoorDash. We got a Mini Carne Asada Burrito, Quesabirra Tacos, and a shredded beef taco (flour shell). All was good. They forgot the soup that goes with the Quesabirra Tacos. Thankfully I saved it from last time and froze it. Still good. I also got their guacamole. That hit. It's a good amount of quacamole too. Update #4: I did DoorDash again. I tried for the first time the Flauta Por Unidad with Pollo (a fat shredded chicken taquito) and the Duro with Cameron (hard shell shrimp taco). Both were good. I also got another Mini Carne Asada Burrito. I love their flour tortillas! The taste so fresh! Update #5: DoorDash again. The food was so good, I wanted it two days in a row! I got a Mini Carne Asada Burrito again. This time they put the red sauce, onions, and cilantro on it (I was wondering what the red sauce in a container was for). It was good, I just couldn't pick it up to eat it and was more messy. I also got the Flauta Por Unidad with Res (giant taquito with shredded beef), a side of rice and beans, and tried a Sope (thick corn tortilla with beans, and lettuce, cheese) with Cameron (shrimp) for the first time. There was a lot (apart) of shrimp! All was good, but the Carne Asada flour tacos and burritos are still my favorite there. Update #6: DoorDash again! Third time this week... it is crazy! I think this is the most Ist I've had them ever in a week or even a month! I also don't live that close so DoorDash is a good option. I got the Mini Burrito with Carne Asada once again. It came with sauce on it again (like described on the menu). It was good, I just would prefer it without because the tortillas are so good, I want to really taste it. I wish they allowed comments/special instructions so we can request slight alterations. I also tried their Quesadilla Harina Sola with Cameron (Cheese Quesadilla with Shrimp). It was very good. Again, I love flour tortillas! If they had an option to buy some I would (I have only seen corn on DoorDash). I was a little bummed because I ordered extra hot sauce and didn't get it. I also wish they let you leave comments on DoorDash so I can request which hot sauces to send. Food is awesome, though! I recently spoke to someone from the restaurant and they are passing my suggestions to the owner. Super stoked! The only other thing that could make this place better is if they had fish tacos.

Updated 6/9/24 Owner reached out to inquire and to apologize for my experience. Was offered a meal on the house which was a very sweet offer and shows the professionalism and desire to correct the situation. The Quesabirria tacos was a complete 180 from first time. Probably in the top 3 of my favorite quesabirria I've had! Delicious, crispy, all the fixings (salsa, onions/cilantro, consumé, ect). The rice and beans were fresh and delicious. The churro was way better and was nice and soft on the inside and crispy and sweet on outside. The downside however- my husband wasn't interested in trying another torta after last time so he got the Cameron's a la diablo. They didn't look anything like the menu picture or description. They used tiny shrimp, the sauce was more watery than the picture, and there was no pico or "salad" as the description had. The flavors were still really good he said and he really enjoyed the beans as well. Overall, I would be happy to go back for another order of quesabirria and churro! The last 3 photos are the new ones. Original Review Ordered delivery and the quesabirria was awful. They were flavorless, they were missing the onions and cilantro, barely any cheese, doesn't seem like the tortilla was warmed up, and the consumé was just water. Torta so greasy it leaked through 2 bags 🤮 don't bother wasting your money!!

My hubby and I discovered this delicious little restaurant/bodega while searching for a place to grab some lunch in Richmond. OMG it was so good! Real authentic yummy Mexican food for a reasonable price. We both had the combo plate which includes your choice of 3 items and a canned soda for around $12. I chose the chicken tamale, chicken flauta, and beef tostado. Hubby chose a shredded beef burrito, a shredded beef street taco, and a chicken tamale. The tamales are hand made onsite, unfortunately they were out of the red chile pork, but the chicken one was delicious. The chicken flauta was actually the best flauta I have ever eaten. The tostada was loaded with mouth watering shredded beef, no cheap bland hamburger here. It was hands down the best Mexican food that I have had since moving to Virginia from Arizona. Although they did not serve chips and salsa, they had small containers of red, green, and a smoky adobo salsa, no strange white gloop at this restaurant. Although it wasn't fancy, it was clean, the employees were extremely welcoming, and the food was drool worthy. I will definitely stop in the next time I am in the Richmond area!

Food is good.... when it’s made right. Unfortunately though, the absolutely deplorable level of customer service at this place has finally completely overridden that fact. This is not the first time my order has not been carried out correctly here, but the most recent time has driven me to feel the need to warn others. I visited this restaurant with a group of six people who all ordered burritos with their individual modifications. We ordered the burritos to go and when we arrived home, we started eating only to realize none of the orders were done correctly. We called the restaurant to inform them of their mistakes and they kept me on the phone for ten minutes only to argue with each other about who messed up the food and then tell us to come back and return the food so they could remake it. We arrived, spoke to the female manager and gave back our food and waited for thirty minutes, after which we inquired about our food again only to find out that the food had not even been started and they had placed our remake at the end of the list. At that point, the female manager whose directions had been ignored by the other girls spoke to the head manager. He proceeded to dump all our food in the trash, yelling angrily about how he was not replacing any of it, and then came to us. He told us to talk to him about our issue, but refused to even listen to what our issue was and instead yelled at us and ended up responding with “You can just get your money back because we obviously can’t meet your standards. Everybody else seems to like it” (gesturing towards the rest of the people in the restaurant, who I’m sure know now who not to speak to if they have a complaint about their food). I and the rest of my party are extremely disappointed at the lack of professionalism, insane level of disrespect and absolute disregard for even base level customer service which is evident at this establishment. Judging by the way that the manager of the store absolutely dismissed us and mocked our complaints, I suspect that if it were a group of men instead of women who had ordered from this place, our complaints would have been taken more seriously. (Initial order wait: 30 mins, Time arguing on the phone and then driving back to restaurant: 15 mins, Reorder wait: 30 mins. Total time wasted just to still be hungry: 1 hr 15 mins). DON'T COME HERE IF YOU EXPECT SOMEONE TO CARE...

Update: The only item on the menu, as a San Diego native, change the California burrito to what it is: The California burrito is a staple of classic West Coast cuisine. There are many variations, but the basic recipe is the same: meat, cheese, french fries, and guacamole, all rolled up into a warm flour tortilla. The burrito is often served with steak or chicken. Rice and beans is very against the burrito, why it’s a California burrito and not any other kind!

Still delicious! New look for their market, new items, decorations. All super authentic and just so much love and passion for Mexican culture from the moment you pull up, the first bite, sip of delicious margarita, to the end of the meal. You’ll be instantly teleported to a traditional Mexican taqueria. Do yourself a favour and venture to La Mipa for an authentic meal asap! Highly recommend for any and all occasions.

My -only- strong request for the menu: If you’re going to call it a “California Burrito” do it right. You wouldn’t serve meatballs and spaghetti when someone orders a taco. Carne asada, guacamole, pico de gaio, cheese, sour cream, and CRISPY FRENCH FRIES. No French fries? Not a California burrito. Period. Full stop. Please make the real deal because no other place in a 100 miles has this item correctly listed on their menu.

First try they were good, second time, great. By the third, 5th, and tenth time this place is my top go to late night (or anytime) restaurant. Their take out and sauces are just as delicious. It’s my go to for street tacos, & the market is super adorable. The carne asada is juicy authentic, chips and guac is a classic. Their hot sauce selection is phenomenal - ask for their avocado sauce! Overall this place is amazing. More times you go there is more of the menu, market, and amazing options to discover.

10/10...
