Kinda torn, i know many regulations have dropped now that Covid 19 is somewhat under control but with the seating back to normal and the very crowded dinner time was very uncomfortable. The floor was slick walking too and from the restrooms. Especially by the main entrace door. No customers were wearing masks except my children. But the employees were all wearing masks. Although vaccinated, i still felt too crowded. It was my first visit here ever. The all you can eat for 19.99 was way too pricey. We are not sushi regulars mind you. Our kids have had it more often tho. It would have been nice to have a suggestion for first timer, sample plate or something. They charge you for what you dont eat and leave on your plate. I can somewhat understand, except for new to sushi and new customers. I ordered 4 items in hopes to like something. Unfortunately nothing on my plate was tasty to me. I ended up ordering off the kids menu, chicken nuggets which were awesome and mini corn dogs also good but only 4 of ea. But overall DEFINITELY NOT worth $20. The waiter on the other hand was good. He spoke better English than i have encountered at couple other places similar but more americanized in the past. Hubbys food came out first. It was all cooked shrimp fried rice, spring rolls and calimari. All awesome! I did get to taste because it was almost 15 minutes before the rest of us received our rolls and sushimi. I have learned expensively some things i do not like. If we had Japanese speaking friends it would have been a much more delightful experience im sure. Just not knowing what your getting was going to taste like was exciting but a major let down. Daughter ordered the avocado roll and Christmas roll which were both quite good so she got lucky. I liked hers. Son ordered a roll and loved it but i don't remember which one. He got a plate full of sushimi but didn't like any of it except the pieces of cucumber and salmon. I ordered the Hawaiian, the waterfoul or something, an avocado Cucumber and crab roll and another roll that had the eel sauce all over it... sorry but that one made me sick. If it didnt have the sauce on it i probably could have eaten it because my first bite didn't get any of the sauce and wasn't bad.
I was too embarrassed to tell him i didn't like anything until he said it was going to be an extra $7 For what i didn't eat. I could have had steak n lobster for that!!!! So very disappointed. Worse yet, i spent a few hours in rest rooms on our 45 min drive home. Evidently my body is not able to cope with that type of food. I tried it, but not impressed. So, if your not sure, just order one of the fried rice options and off the kids menu. 😁 It all comes out beautifully presented but not edible for a few of us. For me, next time.... i will choose Red lobster for an expensive feast and take my left overs...
Read moreI Love Sushi King, the one on Hall Street is amazing. This location on the other hand I will never return. I'm a pretty good-sized guy and I can eat a lot of sushi. I was brought to this particular location for my birthday and now will never return. My fiance, her sister, a friend of ours and myself attended the restaurant. My friend was there to celebrate with me for my birthday and was planning to spend the afternoon with us but he had already eaten. I ordered large amounts of sushi each time I ordered because I love it so much. He did not want to order anything at the time because he had just recently eaten at Chipotle. The staff watched us very closely the entire time we were there. And I understand because it's an all-you-can-eat restaurant they are always fearful of guests sharing their food with people that are not paying. Never in any of my visits to Sushi King have I been told I would be charged extra if I did not finish my sushi until this time. I understand this is written out in their menu. Every time the staff walked by our table they basically stared at my plate as if they were counting how many pieces of sushi I have left. My fiance ordered a new type of sushi she had not tried but did not like it told the waiter she did not like the taste and then the manager was sent to our table. The manager told my fiance not to order any sushi if she had not tried it before and to only order things that she liked. How are you supposed to find out if you like a different type of sushi if you do not try it and if you do not like it they're basically telling you you have to eat it. Her sister also tried it and did not like it either. We are not wasteful but how can you eat something that you think might make you feel sick. In my opinion it was the worst way to approach a customer and tell them what they can and cannot order. Our friend did eventually order some sushi because of the amount of time that we were in the restaurant. But just the fact of how I felt by the comments that were made in the way they were staring at the table were unprofessional. I think a lot of all-you-can-eat restaurants are great but some of them don't want you to eat all you can truly eat. I finished all of my sushi even though they did not think I would. What a way to celebrate your birthday by being treated like you're doing something wrong. I will only return to the Hall Street location from this point forward. If you truly like to eat a lot of sushi I do not recommend this location. And would love to give a negative star if possible. -🌟 the photos below are the amount of sushi that I had and the one trip to the salad bar the only thing that's missing is the plate that had the original volcano Sushi on it because I was so excited to eat I forgot to...
Read moreUpdate again: I am downgrading this place. You charge me $12 for five bites of sushi? (I did DoorDash) Where is the other half? I also didn't get any wasabi. There is also no crab in the Crab Rangoon. It's just a cream cheese wonton.
Update: The calamari just don't. I keep thinking it'll be better next time... It's most likely frozen rings and not fresh. I guess what do you expect for $4. Miso soup is still good to sip on. I order here a lot from DoorDash. Prices and food are good. The Hibachi Shrimp comes with a lot of food!!! Enough for multiple meals and a lot of veggies! All the apps are good, including the veggie tempura. I also enjoyed the Salmon Roll this time. Last time I enjoyed the Eel Roll and Alaska Roll (has salmon).
Update: This is probably my fifth time ordering from this location. Sometimes it's good, but not great, but tonight it was great! DoorDash again.
I had the Spicy Salmon Roll and added cream cheese, spicy mayo, and eel sauce (only a dollar extra for the add-ons). It was practically the same as the Chef's Special Roll with salmon and cream cheese except with spicy salmon and I think it is smaller. For $5 something it was perfect! A small roll and a large roll filled me up. The other roll was King Roll (shrimp tempura, avocado, eel, eel sauce, and fish eggs). They both hit the spot! I am raising my review back to five stars.
I'd be even happier if they would allow brown rice as an option in rolls for those trying to eat better.
The mildew taste I also haven't tasted in a long while.
I have ordered from DoorDash twice now. The prices are not bad compared to other sushi restaurants on delivery apps. The food is good too. The only reason it's a four is that I swear some rolls taste like mildew. This time it was just one or two pieces, it was a whole roll. I didn't take any pics because the rolls get a little bumped around being delivered.
I haven't been to this location, but if it is the same as the Hull Steet location, they have an all-you-can-eat option there that is a really good price.
The King Roll is one of my favs. I've also had the Richmond Roll (deep-fried crab meat topped with spicy tuna, eel sauce, and spicy mayo). That one is really good too.
I liked the Crab Rangoons (like a cream cheese wonton with imitation crab), the Shrimp Tempura, the Beef Gyoza Dumplings, and the Spicy Tuna Roll. The Fried Calamari Tempura, Shrimp Hibachi, and Salmon Sushi...
