Pelican's SnoBalls - Bonita Springs — Restaurant in Bonita Springs

I’m a shaved ice expert. I’ve traveled the world sampling shaved ice - particularly Hawaiian original style shaved ice. I know a good shaved ice when I see one. And let me simply say - Pelican’s SnoBalls is the real deal. Their ice is the perfect, fluffy, soft consistency - this is the most important variable in a shaved ice. The ice must be soft and fluffy enough to ABSORB the syrup - this is what makes a genuine shaved ice different than a snow cone, for example. Since this was my first time at Pelican’s, I went with my usual flavors - cotton candy and pink bubblegum, with sweetened condensed milk on top (this is a key variable for a good shaved ice). Everything was perfect - 10/10. And I told the kind cashier - Rebecca - about my history of shaved ice sampling. She went the extra mile to give me a sample of the pure shaved ice - so I could examine its texture and consistency. Right then I knew Pelican’s was legit. I was here with my dad and another family member, too. My dad is also a shaved ice connoisseur - he had an A+ rating for Pelican’s (and Rebecca), too. Our other family member who was with us had never had a shaved ice before. She didn’t want one, but we got one for her anyway. After her first bite, we didn’t hear a word from her until she finished every drop. Her first words were, “can we come back tomorrow”? She absolutely loved her first shaved ice. Needless to say, we will be back at Pelican’s everyday for as long as we’re on our vacation. And fortunately, I’ve found out there is another Pelican’s location nearby my home; I will be going there everyday. I can’t wait to try some of their flavors from their very dynamic and creative menu. (Also - they have great “house” combinations on their menu - just based on their combinations, you know Pelican’s knows what they’re doing.) I went there with no idea what I was getting myself into. Figured this was just some typical shaved ice place. The girl who took my order was the owner , Rebecca. She could tell it was my first time here and brought me some of their ice to feel. When I say this was the softest , fluffiest ice I have ever felt , I mean it. It felt like a was holding actual snow straight from the sky. She made the ordering process so simple. She just asked me what my favorite desert was and I told her strawberry cheesecake. Low and Behold , I’m presented with one of the most delightful looking treats I have ever seen. It was strawberry cheesecake flavor , with their cream topping , and stuffed with their homemade soft serve. Seriously the best thing I have ever eaten !! It's a little plastic hut shaped like an ice cream cone, so be prepared to either sit outdoors or eat in the car. It does get messy so if you have little ones, keep that in mind. I ordered the Fuzzy Navel flavor (peach and orange) with condensed milk and added the soft serve vanilla ice cream. I highly recommend the condensed milk because it adds a little extra flavor and robustness to the shaved ice. The ice cream in itself was absolutely divine and worth getting on its own.
