This place serves all the Greek-American staples and does a great job with them. The unassuming, little restaurant was a delightful find. We drove up from Lenoir for a little shopping, and stopped in so we weren't hungry when we strolled through Harris-Teeter (a move too dangerous to risk). I had the large Greek Salad and added the lamb gyro meat. My husband went with the OG -- traditional lamb gyro meat stuffed into a warm, pillowy, soft pita and dressed with salad and tzatziki. We split a half order of Greek Fries. It all came to the table hot and delicious. The salad was fresh, crisp and paired well with the Greek dressing. It was kissed with lemon and came with a healthy garnish of feta and briney Greek olives. The fries were so hot and crisp that they were the perfect contrast to the tzatziki and feta. We will return for sure.

I had a takeout dinner from this place during my vacation. This place is not an authentic greek food place, just so you are aware. When I came in around 6PM, the place was empty. There was nobody but workers. I ordered og and grilled pork gyro. Lamb was very dry and salty. It was more like a jerky than usual gyro meat. The worst was yet to come. The grilled pork was unbelievably salty. Why? I asked in my head. Do they have to preserve the meat because their business was so bad? I felt like each cube of meat contained a spoonful of salt. It was just ridiculous. I had to take out all meat so I could take few bites but threw most of the portion away. I challenge the cook to finish your own food. If you do, something is definitely wrong with your taste buds.

I recently returned from a month in Greece and was craving authentic Greek pastries. I went to Ambrosia Kafeneio’s new bakery and am so pleased!!! The baklava was just as I remembered in Greece—delicious and authentic! They have an assortment of Greek pastries, something for everyone! If you are craving Greek pastries or just want to try something new, come visit Ambrosia Kafeneio! An added bonus is how wonderful the service and atmosphere is. Very kind owners. I am very pleased!

Update: 11/02/2025 Ambrosia Kafeneio started offering Greek-style desserts today! I had a delicious Tomato Basil soup with real bits of basil leaves and the best Spanikopita "tart" I've ever had! Then choosing dessert was so difficult I bought several to bring home! There was a baklava cheesecake, a semolina cake, a whiskey cake, a lemon cake, almost cookies, chocolate drizzled baklava! And there was more! So perfect for coffee and a sweet treat...but not too sweet as is the Greek tradition! I always feel I've gone back to Greece when I go to Ambrosia kafeneio! I love Ambrosia for everything it is and the people who work there! I recently returned from a trip to Athens and Santorini, Greece. The food I've had at Ambrosia is actually BETTER than anything I had while in Greece! It is truly authentic. Furthermore, yes, Santorini is as beautiful as the photos on the internet, but the mountains of North Carolina are of equal beauty! So when I can get AUTHENTIC GREEK CUISINE in the beautiful city of Boone, NC, I'll take it any time! The owners of Ambrosia are also great people who care about their community and their employees. They have gone above and beyond since the flood of 2024 to provide meals and support to those in need, both locally and beyond their county. That's the kind of business and people I want to support. When you eat at Ambrosia, you are eating TRUE GREEK food...

Dear friends,

I live in Charleston, SC (a city renowned for it’s world-class restaurants) and I recently visited Ambrosia Kaféneio in Boone, NC with my mother, who’s been raving about the place since they first opened. I must say that I was blown away by the amazing food and service. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome by one of the owners as well as the friendly staff. It was breath of fresh air to be greeted by an owner, considering that so many restaurants are run by absentee owners these days. The restaurant also has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, which made me feel right at home.

I ordered a lamb gyro with a side of potato salad and it was absolutely delicious - one of the best I've ever had! The portion size was also very generous, so I definitely got my money's worth. The staff really cares about customer service and making sure that each meal is satisfying and delicious.

It's worth mentioning that Ambrosia Kaféneio is family owned, which adds to the overall feel of the place. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Greek dining experience.

Fresh!!! Amazing flavors!! Excellent, fast service...with a beautiful smile! I had a chicken wrap of sorts with a sauce enveloping the delicious chicken...that I could swim in!! Lol! The best taste ever! How lucky was I that the Grandfather was in the store which is situated near the Boone mall. I was graced with his time as he shared all the precious memories found in the restaurants' displays! I am really " blown away" by this experience, the history this gentleman shared with me! I give 10 thousand stars for my experience today!! You must go! Look for the most unigue Monopoly set displayed on the wall. Look for the very very special flag and all the beautiful historical family items on display. All this made my dining experience superb! I hope you are as lucky as me and I hope you enjoy the restaurant as much as I did. Thanks...
