Where do I even begin. As we were quickly seated at our little table beside the support beam of the restaurant on that Wednesday night, it was already starting to feel me and my friend were in an "ignore these people" area. Our waitress greeted us with a "smile" and asked us for drinks. Upon getting them 15 minutes later, I can get the feeling that the pace was being affected by the packed house. We ordered a medium Mighty Meaty Pizza and Garlic bread as an appetizer. It wasn't 30 minutes until we finally received our Garlic Bread, which was good, though the garlic was very strong. Stuck to our taste-buds for two days. Another 30 minutes later, we received our Pizza, which, was also good, but me and my friend only had 1-2 slices out of the six, so, had to get to-go boxes. To the main reason I give this place a very poor rating, is the aftermath of the eating. When we were clearly finished, our waitress kept walking past us, not giving us our bill at all, and rather deal with the other customers in her area. With Cold pizza, empty glasses, and plates covered in napkins, she didn't try to get to us for 25 minutes until she finally gave our bill, which we kindly asked to split it for us. Totals came to $15.23 and $15.24. I took the latter, friend had the first bill, which he paid by card, me with cash. I kidd you not, we sat there with bill in hand, ready to pay for 30 minutes. She never looked our way to pick it up and allowed us to leave. I had to standup and go to the "to-go" station infront of the kitchen to request if we could pay it there. The manager working there was kind enough to allow me to pay for my bill, but had to wait for the waitress to come over to input her number for my friend's. I was told that it was her first night there, so I had a little bit of understanding to the situation. During the time I was talking to the manager, my friend from the table noticed the waitress giving me dirty looks and rolled her eyes as she saw me paying at the registers. She finally showed up, and was able to get to my friends bill. The only issue? We had to wait another 15 minutes for her to pick up my friends bill because we didn't have "her" pen to sign it. After the really awful experience, I left two dollars for tip, my friend, nothing. He goes by the logic of, you should be tipped for your excellent service, and if you do poorly, you don't deserve a good tip. After we get back from the vacation, upon looking at his card payments, the restaurant charged him a total of $18.28. My overall review: If it was possible to give this place a zero star, I would, solely based on the experience. If we had a better waiter/waitress, would have made the experience a lot nicer. Me and my friend were so put off by the way we were treated, we are not coming back to this particular location, or any other Mellow Mushroom ever again. I actually warn folks to not come to this restaurant, and rather the one in Blowing Rock, which has better parking situations and a...
Read moreRUDE people with HORRIBLE customer service! The girl who answered the phone was super nice, but that's it. We ordered over the phone for dine-in, but when we got there they said we couldn't dine-in when orders are placed over the phone? Anyway, we came without a mask, but we covered our nose and mouth with our shirts when we walked in, which is exactly the same thing, just not in the same shape. They were EXTREMELY rude and insisted that we get out of the restaurant if we're not wearing a mask-shaped cloth. Ugh! So we had to do something so unsanitary and totally covid-causing. We had to go back to the car and wear our ALREADY-USED DISPOSABLE MASK! SERIOUSLY?! So you really actually don't at all care about you customer's health and safety, but you just want to force everyone to wear a mask, no matter the circumstances, because... why? Well just so you know, the actual NC mandate is that you need a face covering, not a mask. And if you'd just look it up, you could see that it clearly says you can use your shirt. I'm so disgusted right now. I'm never ever coming back here, and I hope YOU who's reading this will reconsider ever going...
Read moreWell, NORMALLY I like/love this place but tonight 3-15-19 we (my hubby and I) went for a special night out. I ordered the sausagefest Calzone and my hubby got a pie. It took quite a while for our food to come out and our server kept telling us it will be out soon. When we finally got our food, mine tasted different from what I had remembered it to be so I checked inside it and there was NO SPICED RICOTTA! No where to be found! It ruined the calzone for me and so when I went to the ladies room, I stopped by the front desk and checked the menu just to be sure. Yep, it's supposed to have it. The girl I spoke to about it asked if I wanted to speak to the manager but I didnt want to complain on a special night out with my hubby. Just wanted to give people a heads up on the way things are handled here. IF they had come to me and told me they were out of ricotta, I would have chosen something else. Instead, they just sent it out without it. That isn't right. And according to the girl, they make SO MANY of them, that they wouldn't make a mistake by leaving it out. Was not happy tonight and probably...
