For vegetarians they have salads, and four items on the menu for kids. Probably about 30 TV's, which was great for watching the game. We had to get up and ask for napkins, plates, and silverware because our first appetizer was delivered in a rush by someone other than our server without asking if we needed anything else. I tried asking the young lady clearing the table beside us for silverware but she told me I'd have to ask my server for it, which made me think for a moment that maybe I had accidentally approached a customer, since there were no uniforms and most of the waitresses all seemed to wear comfortable or revealing clothes that a customer might wear while going out, such as sweat pants and crop tops. I've never been a waitress or know how things might work in that line of business, but in my experience elsewhere, even the bus boy would (notify my server or) be happy to bring me a set of utensils instead of making me track her down myself on a busy game night. Maybe she was new or something.
Someone in my party was disappointed to see that a different table was served the cheesesteak sub after the server told him that it wasn't an option since they were out of the cheesesteak ingredients. She could have specified that they were out of steak but chicken was still an option, which he would have still enjoyed. I made sure to ask if chicken was still an option when she tried to tell me the same. I ordered the personal size cheese steak pizza with chicken and while it did cover the whole plate, the meat was either stingy or not properly disbursed. Since there is no tomato sauce in a cheese steak and the cheese was nothing special, I asked for ranch to dip it in. They must have been very busy that night because we had to request that someone take our used plates out of the way but I can say that our server did check in with us whenever she had the chance. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience even though we had to raise a brow in confusion a few times. No one in our party seemed too upset or complained about the establishment. We would likely come again for...
Read moreFirst and last visit at the Ale House, which is sad, because the food was excellent, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. My husband and I visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2. We had heard great things about the food, and after looking at the menu, I was excited to come back and try more things. Then it went terribly. After we were seated, it took about 4 minutes for anyone to realize we had been seated. I had just seen a large party leave, so was willing to be understanding. When our server finally came over, I asked her what the seasonal Sam Adams was. She had no clue and said she would go ask. She then just stood there and watched the TV as the selections went by. (I hadn't noticed the TV, otherwise I wouldn't have asked). Ordered our drinks and the bacon cheese fries, as well as wings, which I had to stop her from leaving to order. We get our drinks, and a few minutes later, the fries come out. Didn't even stop, just dropped and ran. I had to catch her to ask for silverware. The ENTIRE time she was at our table, she looked everywhere but at us. Same treatment with the wings, when they were ready, dropped and ran. We had ordered blue cheese and ranch so I had to catch her to ask which was which. Honestly, I have never felt like such an inconvenience at any restaurant I have ever been to. While we were there, the hostess was putting tables back from the large party that had left as we got got there. She cleaned the tables well, however, nobody swept up any of the food or napkins that were there. The ladies' room was disgusting. Of the three stalls, one was out of order, the second completely clogged, and the third that was usable didn't lock. They had soap and an air dryer, but the whole thing looked and felt gross. I understand there are good days and bad days, and if had just been one issue, I would gladly have given them a second chance. I just don't feel like I was welcomed at all, or treated with any courtesy whatsoever. I was an inconvenience, and made to...
Read moreMy family and I were in town visiting and decided to swing by Rivers Street Ale House on a Saturday evening around 7pm—and it was a great call! The food and drinks were standout features. We ordered 12 wings with a lemon pepper dry rub, and they were absolutely delicious. Paired with some sweet potato fries, it was a winning combo. The drink prices were wallet-friendly too: $3 for a Miller Lite and $4 for house vodka. Our total tab—a Miller Lite, the 12 wings, a vodka soda, and a vodka cran—came to just $26, which felt like a steal.
The vibe was a huge plus. We played corn hole, listened to live music, and loved the laid-back yet lively atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to unwind, though we left before the late-night crowd hit, so it might get even buzzier later. There was also some festival called "Boonerang" going on nearby, which seemed to bring extra energy to the area.
All in all, Rivers Street Ale House is a fantastic pick for tasty food, affordable drinks, and a good time. I’d totally recommend it for a chill night out—especially if you’re just visiting town...
