I'm not sure navigating downtown traffic and fighting for a parking space was really worth my experience. I got there right when the place opened at 5 so there was no wait. The hostess was friendly enough. I have a pet peeve about servers congregating all in one area appearing to have nothing to do but talk to one another. Especially when you can see food and drinks prepared and sitting around waiting for someone to bring it to the table. My best guess at the lackadaisical service would be that maybe the bartender was high. I literally had to ask for everything I needed no less than three times. Wasabi for my edamame, sweetener for my tea, a refill on my drink, everything had to be requested and it had to be requested multiple times. It was like the second after we had the conversation he forgot it occurred. The edamame was so heavily coated in salt I was wiping the shells off on my napkin. The Red Dragon Roll was good but the ratio of sushi to Rice was way off and much too heavy on the rice. The fish was fresh but it most certainly wasn't the best sushi I've ever had. I'm also not sure where these other reviews are mentioning the wide variety of sushi. It's actually very limited and most of it is fried or tempura-battered. This restaurant would not be a destination for me if I find myself...
Read moreWe normally really like Cobo but our last experience wasn't stellar. On a Tuesday night we waited over an hour and 15 minutes for any kind of table. We had called ahead and two large parties who seemed to have relationships with the staff were seated before us. Even though one had not called ahead. Then I have Celiac's disease but our waitress couldn't really tell me simple specifics about a crab mix in one of the rolls or what se other words on the menu contained. I was very clear I couldn't have soy sauce. She didn't really seem to care. There wasn't much on the menu I could eat (and our waitress couldnt help with what was in things we asked about.....and didn't seem to want to ask) so I ordered the salad with sesame dressing and a California roll. The salad came out with a dressing that had soy sauce in it. I didn't know until I took a bite. They didn't have any other options for dressings except for ginger (which unfortunately I don't care for). (They are very lucky my allergy doesn't cause anaphylactic shock) It was my birthday and I was just so disappointed with how careless we were treated. We won't be back. So disappointing because we have enjoyed it over the years. My new diagnosis and the staffs unwillingness to help put a bad taste in our mouth we won't...
Read moreI heard highly of this restaurant... the reason for one star is because I never got the opportunity to eat there. I was visiting from out of town and heard they had a great late night menu, however I arrived at 11 p.m with the expectation there was an hour and a half wait, understandable for such a reputable restaurant. Well, about two to three minutes prior to being sat, I asked the hostess where our reservation stood in line, she informed me we may not be sat because around 1230 they stop seating parties, however, we were more than welcome to dine in at the bar. After an HOUR AND A HALF of waiting they proceed to tell our party we cannot be sat, but can eat at the bar. Let’s acknowledge that fact that this place is already unbelievably busy, now we have to attempt to find a spot at a bar, that only holds 15 people, and cram in 5. The hostess begins getting an attitude trying to inform us that having our name on the list doesn’t guarantee a table... This would not have been such an issue had that message been conveyed in the beginning. So if your attempting to find a great local spot, even worth the wait, don’t go here for a Saturday night special, seems like they will allow you to wait for a table for an hour and a half then deny...
