( I have lowered my review on this from 3 to 2 stars) Without giving details, the food quality needs to become increased.
Not as good as it was. The owner has a place in Dover as well and I guess decided to rename this place Pancho Villa Taqueria, he dumped down the menu to just tacos and basic sides like R&B and soups. The space is the same with an addition of a salsa station. But the food was sub-par for those that ate there last year when it was very good.
The service was sorely lacking, she did not speak English, forgot to give us plates, forks, knifes or napkins, she took forever to come by and did not deliver our tacos but left them on the salsa bar and told us to go get them I guess to save her a trip to out table. Not for a lack of time as WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS THERE! And no take out orders went out.
I got a mix of tacos including beef tongue, pork belly, chorizo and steak. Only the chorizo was good, and the others were chewy. My wife got stewed chicken that was decent; as there were no seafood options. Chips and salsa were ok, but the salsa was not warm â I kinda liked thatâ. The rice was good, and the salsa bar was neat, but very spicy.
I get he is trying to save money on staff and food, but the quality needs to go way up on at least the food and maybe make it counter service only. I wish them luck but Titos Burritos in town has better food and salsa bar and Chili Willies has better service. In the end it only cost us $25 for a meal, but I would have gladly paid more for a...
Read moreWe were the only people there. The place was neatly decorated and clean. The server seemed friendly but we had no idea what the other was saying. We had some communication issues, the server did not seem to understand us and was not able to get the order correct. The sides of rice and beans came out about 5 mins before the entree and they were just warm but cold by the time the entree arrived. Every mexican place around the country I order the same thing-enchiladas and never got anything like these before. I sent back the order once because it was not what I ordered and what I was served next was was bitter/ sour- not sure if the cheese was bad or what but after a few bites I couldnt even eat anymore. Spending $40 , we left disappointed and hungry, we considered stopping elsewhere but my stomach was too upset to even do that. We will definitely not be returning. Will try Chili Willie's next time or stick with our usual places-Don Jose's/Netcong or Riviera...
Read moreLterraza Mexican Restaurant has some of the finest Latino cuisine on Main Street in Boonton. Great portions with fair prices, a friendly staff, excellent atmosphere including a great variety of upbeat Latino music from mariachi to salsa; you really canât go wrong stopping in sometime. A few dishes I would personally recommend are the Carnitas which are buttery and delicious and served with rice, beans, Pico de Gallo, cactus pads and come with optional tortillas. I would also recommend the Chimichangas which are crispy, cheesy and delicious (and Iâm pretty sure Deadpool would approve). Regardless of what you decide to order, youâll go home happy, full and I donât doubt youâll be back very soon for freshly prepared food, quick and friendly service as well as an inviting,...
