Can a large conference hotel get the premium hotel experience right while feeling personalized? That's what the Boston Marriott Copley Place is able to achieve in the heart of it all. I am a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite guest, so I know what great looks and feels like and I can confidently say that this is a solid option in the middle of it all in Boston with a great M Club Lounge. ||My partner and I were in town for work and a little play. This hotel is a high volume, high energy convention hotel that is attached to Copley Place Mall and Prudential Center, with a large Yard House on the ground floor, providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the hotel. All the amenities of a large hotel are there: 24 hour fitness center, indoor pool, Starbucks in lobby, renovated M Club, more. You can tell that this hotel was built in the 1970s but was recently modernized and renovated to look and feel 2025. ||What's Wired (Highlights)|1. Overall the staff are very accommodating. From the check-in woman to the front office manager, I could tell that they wanted to make sure my partner and I were well taken care of. While we received a complimentary suite upgrade for being Titanium, we had some issues with it (see Tired section), and they went on a journey with us to find the best suite for our needs. We appreciated this.|2. Public areas and rooms are recently renovated and reflect the modern aesthetic standard for Marriott hotels. Most rooms and suites have hardwood-like floors which make them feel larger and cleaner. The beds were comfortable |3. The hotel is in the center of it all. You can easily walk, take the subway, or Uber to nearly anywhere you want to go in Boston. We walked to Newbury Street and used the subway to get to the wharf. The Concierge team at the desk to the right of the Front Desk are super helpful with directions and recommendations. |4. The M Club, complimentary for Platinum + Bonvoy Elites, has been recently renovated and has (for North America) very good spreads for breakfast and evening appetizers. This complimented our stay so much and we loved the flexibility of it. My only recommendation is to reduce the prices of the alcohol (a glass of chardonnay should not be $15 in the M Club). |5. You can valet or self park (garage is attached to hotel) but be prepared to sign your liver away for the nightly cost ($80+). ||What's Tired (Improvement Opportunities)|1. For some reason (I assume because it is a conference hotel), all suites have at least one connecting door, with some suites having two connecting doors. Unfortunately, the connecting doors let in a lot of obtrusive noise from the neighboring room(s) and it creates a disruptive experience. I can't imagine it would be easy, but I recommend the hotel wall over some of the doors. We had to move suites because the noise from neighboring rooms (2 connecting doors) was just too much. |2. The elevators were modernized with the ability to select your floor before entering the elevator cab but they are still relatively slow and wait times can be extended during busy periods. |3. The towels and sheets feel thin and cheap. |4. 4PM Late Checkout was honored for Titanium Elite guest with no question. ||Overall, this is a solid option for staying in the heart of Boston, especially if you are a Marriott...
Read moreLocation and Hotel Experience: The Marriott Copley Place in Boston boasts a wonderful location, offering easy access to many of the city's attractions. The hotel itself is clean and well-maintained, which is always a plus. We were fortunate to have a room with a gorgeous city view, but unfortunately, we couldn't fully appreciate it because the window was so dirty. Additionally, it took three attempts to get our room keys programmed correctly, which was a bit frustrating.
Yardhouse Bar & Grill: Inside the hotel, the Yardhouse Bar & Grill offers a great atmosphere with decent food and drinks. The staff was wonderful, but there was a noticeable lack of organization. Servers walked around with food and drinks, asking if you ordered them, as nobody seemed to know who ordered what.
Conference/Convention Space: The conference and convention space at this location leaves much to be desired. The management of this area seems to be severely lacking. The air conditioning was set so cold that the audience had to wrap themselves in blankets, and it was difficult for dancers to warm up due to the chill.
Food service was another major disappointment. Unlike many banquet services that offer complimentary coffee, tea, and water, this was not the case here. The food at the banquet hall was subpar; our waiter continuously complained about the menu being difficult to manage, leading to confusion over something as simple as a side salad, main dish, and cookies. When it came to dessert, only half of it was brought to our table, and when we inquired about the rest, we were given a plate of cold cookies instead. Warming them up would have been a simple courtesy. The event space had a podium but no stand for the microphone, which is a basic necessity for any conference setting.
The overall experience at the conference was underwhelming and poorly managed. We opted to skip the dinner the next time and heard from others that it was just cold spaghetti and meatballs.
Conclusion: If I were managing the conference and convention space at Marriott Copley Place, I would be embarrassed by the current state of affairs. The hotel itself is lovely and well-situated, and the Yardhouse Bar & Grill has potential with its great atmosphere, but both areas need serious improvements to match the quality expected at a...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for a conference, and it was a wonderful experience! I'll go more in depth with my pros and cons, but please do yourself a favor and become a free Bonvoy member so you can use the wifi for free.
Walkability: It is very centralized and located inside of a shopping mall with an indoor skybridge connecting it to another shopping mall and the Hynes Convention Center. Views: Oh my gosh these views of Boston are to die for. I was placed on the 36th floor with no extra charge and it was absolutely gorgeous. Early check-in and comparatively late check-out: I requested an early check-in a few days in advance and my room was ready at 2:30pm, which was great. The standard check-out is at 12pm which is later than most hotels and very convenient. On-site restaurant: The Yard House is part of the hotel and has some of the most affordable meals you can find in the area. I ordered carryout from them twice and both meals were delicious and under $20. Updated rooms: Everything is very modern, classy, and beautiful in both the bedroom and the bathroom. Blackout curtains: They are in every room and make the room pitch dark. Perfect for a midday nap to recharge.
Destination fee: If you do not book through a conference, you are charged $25 a night. This does come with tickets to an attraction (I believe) and credit to use at their restaurants, so make sure you spend it so that you don't lose your money! Pillows: Their pillows are atrocious. I was solo in a double bedroom and placed all 8 pillows on my bed and still felt like my head was lying flat on the mattress. Don't leave the hotel after dark & buy snacks ahead of time: It is not the hotel's fault, but everything in the immediate area (shopping malls) closes by 9pm. I wanted a snack from the CVS next door at 9:15 on a Saturday night and it was closed, as was everything else. I went outside to the street to find somewhere else and immediately regretted it as there was absolutely no one on the street except beggars. I assumed a big city would be "open late." The hotel does capitalize on this with their convenience store which is open later but, of course, charges outrageous prices. I spent $23 on two 20oz sodas, a candy bar, and a bag...
