This was our first time eating here. Our first server was absolutely wonderful! Super polite, kept coming by the table to bring refills of water, take our order and check on us. By the time the food came out our first waiter was leaving for the day and we got a new waiter. The new waiter didn’t come by as often but was mostly nice when they did. We were actually having a pleasant time, enjoying the food, and then the check came. It was WAY more than we anticipated. As we looked at the price, we noticed they were more than what we’d seen on the menu. We brought it up to the new waiter who brought us a menu to check the prices. The menu we were shown was COMPLETELY different than the one we ordered off of. Not only were the prices higher but there were more options on this menu. We concluded that we’d accidentally been given the lunch menu. The new waiter became super defensive saying “I didn’t give you the wrong menu”, and went on to say that since we’d arrived after 4, we got the dinner portions. We tried explaining that we weren’t blaming them, it’s just, had we seen the prices, or the other options for that matter, we would have ordered differently. And we didn’t really think it was fair to be shown one menu, order off of it with expectations for one price, and then receive a bill $30-40 more than we expected. The waiter walked off while we were mid-sentence and did not come back for ages. When they did come back they walked by while saying “manager’s coming.” The manager never came. We waited for a while longer, not really knowing what to do, and the waiter finally returned and handed us an adjusted bill with the prices we’d originally seen.
We understand that mistakes happen, right? Like, I’m sure it was an accident that we got the lunch menu, but how were we to know? It was our first time there. And surely they’d honor it being that the mistake was theirs. We left with a bad taste in our mouth after that kind of service.
The food was perfectly fine, but if I was wanting someone to be rude to me over a meal, I’d probably choose Dick’s Last Resort...
Read moreWords cannot describe how disappointed I was by this location, despite generally loving Legal Sea Foods. I visited this location for an early birthday dinner with my mother a few days ago and we were shocked. Half the visible staff looked like they did not want to be there. Some of the staff were visibly sick, which made my mom extremely uncomfortable. Our service was slow but I do give credit to our waitress for being the friendliest staff member around. As for the food, our appetizer was wrong, but I excused it as a possible ordering mistake. However, parts of each of our entrees were also cold. My mother noticed her fries was cold, which she didn't find important as she would rather eat the seafood, which wasn't cooked to her taste in the end. Unfortunately, as my plate contained a bigger portion of seafood, I didn't notice the cold portions of oddly chewy shrimps until later on, or I would have raised a concern. The worst part of the visit for me was we were seated under the AC vent, and in combination with the cold seafood, it made me feel rather sick by the end of the meal. We have visited several other LSF locations in the past, and this is by far the worst experience I've had. I always order the same plate at each location, as it is on both the lunch and dinner menu. Once, I picked up lunch at one of the Airport Terminal locations, then walked 20+ minutes with a fair amount of luggage to my flight that's located at the end of the waiting area, and had my seafood there as I was waiting, and the food still tasted reasonably delicious and worth the price. This was food at an airport terminal! Given that, this visit was rather unacceptable. There's tons of LSF locations in Boston. Stay away...
Read moreI hate leaving bad reviews but when you have an experience like this, you have to. We order the lobster roll (which comes with fries & coleslaw) and the seared sole with two sides: broccoli and mushrooms. When they brought out our meals, I was first stunned by how big the lobster roll was—wow. But then noticed we had broccoli with rice and a fish with light breading. I didn’t realize it wasn’t the sole. I simply noticed we had rice and not mushrooms. I asked the server about the mushrooms, she put in an order for mushrooms. But it wasn’t the sole that we ordered rather It was the baked haddock. We had a few bites and didn’t like it, tasted dried out. So we ate the side and I wanted to ask the server to either take the haddock off the tab or give us the sole. However she never returned to our table until to deliver the check. I asked her then to remove the haddock. She argued with me. Said it was fault that I didn’t ask or say anything in the beginning. I’ve never been blamed for an mis-entered order. I know what we ordered however I did not have the role of inputting it into the computer. She did. So why is it my fault!? She continued to argue with me and then even said “I can eat my tip but I will not remove it from the bill”. So we didn’t tip. And then because we’re simply the kind of people that don’t like to inconvenience anyone and want to tip, we left feeling guilty that we didn’t tip. What a terrible experience in so many levels! Of course just visiting so easy to know we’ll never return. But I do wish I could have gotten my money back for the haddock that we never...
