I'd like to start off this review by saying that I'd usually wait till the next day after eating the food to collect my thoughts a bit and collect my thoughts to form a more coherent review. That being said, it is now fifteen minutes after I first tried this pizza, and I can say that I need no additional time to express my feelings on this establishment as a whole. First, when I walked in and began my order, I was extremely impressed by the helpful and friendly nature of the person taking my order. They were very polite and listened clearly to what I said, an anomaly given the fact that I had arrived and placed my order around 30 minutes before the resteraunt's stated closing time, presumably after a full days work. The rest of the staff clearly knew how to do their job very efficiently and well, with my pizza taking just eight and a half minutes from order to completion. Now when it came to my order itself (one pepperoni pizza and garlic parm aioli), the price was relatively high, but understandable given the location in the traditionally highly affluent Prudential center in the Back Bay. Additionally, the pizza is deceptively filling, and I only have two out of four slices, meaning that one could share a pizza and dip for around $15 per person. The pizza itself was beyond exceptional, and as a pizza fanatic who has visited hundreds of different resteraunts across five countries, few have prompted me to express my satisfaction in a full form review. Beginning with the pepperonis, they were perfectly crispy - not too cooked but not too soft and in a perfect ratio to the other ingredients. I have to say that in all my pizza adventures, I don't think I have ever had better pepperonis. The cheese blend included on top of the pizza is certainly the result of several years of work to create the optimal proportions of each different flavor. The tomato sauce is excellent and tastes real and freshly made. These three flavors work together with beautiful synergy and complement each other to create a unique flavor experience for the customer. The crust is very different from the "classic" idea of pizza, yet it represents one of the most amazing elements of the entire adventure. Perfectly crispy golden crust in a rectangular shape, measured to be just the right amount to give the pizza the crunchy backbone it needs. The garlic parm aioli is also quite delicious and pairs very well with any type of pepperoni / sausage pizzas. I can say after eating this pizza, it is easily a contender for the best pizza in Boston, and I think it is easily in the same league of the best pizzas in New York City as well. Overall, the service and food were phenominal, and 98/100 is my final score - easily worth a 30-minute to 1.5-hour drive for food like this. Thank you for blessing me with the opportunity to...

If you're on the hunt for the best Detroit-style pizza in Boston, Descendant Pizza might just end your search. Tucked into the Prudential Center, this spot delivers a crust that's both crispy and fluffy—a rare and satisfying combo that makes each bite a perfect balance of texture and flavor.
We tried the classic Cheese ($19.55), made with a rich cheese blend, tomato sauce, Sicilian oregano, olive oil, and grana padano. It was simple, nostalgic, and hit all the right notes. I’d rate it a solid 8.1/10. But the standout for me was the Jaffna ($28.75), a wildly inventive vegetarian option featuring kothu roti, mango chutney, Calabrian chilis, and coconut sambol—a flavor bomb that tasted like a tropical vacation layered on pizza.
One of the most underrated perks here? The dipping sauces. From garlic aioli to truffle, lime aioli, and even Mike’s Hot Honey, the sauces take your pizza game to another level. It makes every crust end feel like a bonus instead of a burden.
Don’t skip dessert either—Cookies by Feed the Cheeks are the perfect sweet treat to round out the meal.
💵 We paid around $60 for two pizzas, two drinks, and still had four slices left over. With these thick Detroit-style slices, 2–3 per person is more than enough to leave you stuffed.
💬 Final verdict: 8/10 – One of the best pizza spots in Boston for anyone craving creativity, customizable toppings, and that signature Detroit crunch. I’ll absolutely be back the next time...
Read moreAlmost brought me to tears—this pizza was that good! Every bite was an explosion of flavor. If you love pizza, you have to try Descendant Detroit Style Pizza. The only thing that matched the quality of the pizza was the incredible staff.
During a short visit to Boston, my wife and I stopped in to grab some pizza for dinner. While we were reading the menu board on the wall, the manager, Agon, came over and personally walked us through each pizza, explaining the ingredients and answering all our questions. I ordered the most popular pizza, the "No Name" and wow, the first bite gave me goosebumps. My wife had the "Canadian" and it didn't disappoint!
Alex, the owner, stopped by our table to check in and make sure we were enjoying everything. Every team member was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We walked in as strangers but it felt like we left as friends. This place is an absolute grand slam!
I have always loved a good Chicago deep dish and thin crust pie from the Windy City. And I’ve grown to appreciate a good New York slice. But several years ago, I stumbled upon Detroit Style Pizza, and I’ve never looked back. Nothing compares to that crunchy, caramelized cheese crust and the creative topping combinations.
And Descendant Pizza? It's hands down the best I’ve ever had. You gotta give it a try!
My only regret is that we don’t have...
