Six minute walk from the USS Constitution, this place is nestled between two lively quiet walkways. Brunch menu on Saturdays is until 3Pm for those who prefer a more relaxed meal - i was told.
Surprised but not unpleasantly so, the menu has a healthy selection of wines, drinks and alcohol in general. Our order included two turkey sandwiches, tuna nicoise and a side order of home fries.
The fries were tender in the middle, crispy on the outside and just the right amount of burnt tips, giving a little smoky flavour, combined with the roasted red peppers - this was great.
The tuna arrived shortly after.
The tuna was easoned lightly and grilled just long enough to leave a red soft middle. Each bite was rich, tender and pleasant. The eggs were boiled to the point where the white was firm but the yolk soft at the tip of the cut and slowly creamier. The potatoes and the strkng beams had oil, pepper and a hint of acidity. The olives were briny and rich. The ocasional bite of cucumber cleansed the palate and got it ready for the next bite. Getting each of the ingredients in different order created a separate sensation of flavours, being readied by the cucumbers.
The food here is not over the top, the chef thinks about what to put on your plate and does it well, without trying to be too fancy.
This place is bad for your pocket, but good...
Read moreFirst time coming here and I was absolutely blown away! Me and my partner both described this described this meal as “the perfect dinner”.
We started with the half dozen oysters, super fresh oysters you just can’t go wrong!
Then for our meal we got the lobster roll, red snapper dish as well as the cacio Pepe pasta. Lobster was fresh and the bun was warm and crispy, not soggy at all! It was the perfect amount of lobster, and for someone who usually goes for a hot lobster roll with butter, I must say this cold mayo lobster roll definitely hit the spot! The red snapper filet was delicious, was paired with fried rice and it was a delicious plate, and the cacio Pepe pasta was a simple yet fulfilling pasta, the pasta itself was a fun, bouncy bite noodle and it was just a perfect side pasta for the seafood dishes, We ended our night with the burnt basque orange cheesecake and we were basically fighting for the last bite of it at the end!!
Definitely a great dinner, even though it’s a bit pricy, it was definitely worth it, staff were great, atmosphere was great. This is an amazing place to come for a date night, birthday dinner, anniversary, or even a friends night out!
Thank you for a...
Read moreOne of my favorite restaurants in Boston for contemporary American and Italian food. This has been one of my go-to spots for pasta dinner, and I really enjoyed my recent brunch experience here as well. Their handmade pasta has an amazing texture, and I’m especially fan of their fat spaghetti. The local clams spaghetti and the sausage ragu rigatoni are also great, and their minimal seasoning helps highlight their textures. While no longer offered, tomato braised calamari was also one of my favorites as the mix of tomato sauce and lemon was an excellent pairing with the calamari. When I recently took my friend here for brunch, I was disappointed to hear that they don’t serve pasta, but I still liked all the menus that we tried. Huevos rancheros was a more filling meal overall, but I also liked the coconut milk mussels that came with fragrant Thai spices and an interesting kick from the chili. Since they don’t take reservations, the wait times are usually around 30 minutes for dinner, but they’re certainly worth the wait. The wait times are definitely shorter for brunch, but I would highly recommend trying their dinner...
