We had a great stay at the Green Turtle II. From the very beginning, Karen & Jon were so helpful, patient, warm & accomodating with our arrangements. As noted in other reviews, upon arrival we were greeted at the pier gate by Jon, who directed us where to park and ferried our luggage to the boat.
From there on out, we just kept noticing and appreciating all kinds of details that really made our stay enjoyable!
First - the boat - more spacious than we expected, with 2 Queen beds AND 2 bathrooms. It is decked out in teak wood throughout, and had plenty of outlets for our various phones and wifi. The kitchen was stocked with Peets coffee AND both milk and Half& half in the fridge - key! Jon & Karen also stocked the kitchen with some snacks, yogurts and juices which we thoroughly enjoyed. And when i saw the dedicated ice maker, i knew we would have everything we needed! With the good weather, there are also plenty of 'spaces' on the boat - we hung out on the back top deck, the front deck, the captains seat, (and i dont know the right terms) the coffee/sunrise deck - we could be as together or apart as we felt like, all on that yacht!
The hosts - After a brief tour/how-to of the boat, Jon let us get settled: both he & Karen were so helpful but kept a great balance of being available without being intrusive. Jon & Karen seem to be pros with the thoughtful details included on the boat. On top of that, they did everything they could to ensure we had a great stay.
The breakfast - COVID has required a continental breakfast, but the muffins & bagels, were prepared carefully (bagels toasted and foil wrapped).
The location - Charlestown Marina, gated to both cars, and again gated to walk to the boats so we felt very comfortable and safe. The harborwalk was also really enjoyable - we ventured off the path to go to Bunker Hill monument & Brewer's Fork (great pizza!) but there were a few restaurants right off the harbor path as well. The USS Constitution was also a quick walk, and we enjoyed the cannon at sunset (suggestion from Karen).
Finally, even within the marina - there was plenty of room to walk around, and the views from the boat and around the marina were beautiful - especially at night with the city skyline.
Overall, this was a great, unique, fun place to stay. A blast and we would do it again! ...
Read moreFor the average price of a Boston hotel room you get a great room with wet bar & outdoor space on the water! Jon is a Concierge Level host. Upon arrival, he assisted with my luggage, gave me an orientation and then proceeded to share with me valuable tips on attractions, restaurants and transportation. Jon was always available by phone/text. There are two equal sized units in the Green Turtle houseboat. The rooms are similar size to a quality hotel. Comfortable bed, two chairs, side table, hutch as a closet, wet bar with microwave, small refrig w/frz & coffee maker, The Bathroom & shower with seat is great. The houseboat was exceptionally clean with all components in good working order. Amenities provided was impressive: Peets Coffee, teas, creamer, yogurt, juices, water and breakfast pastries. Jon offered to refill anything I might need. Wifi worked great, wall mounted TV with Roku, thermostatically controlled AC unit and base board manually controlled heat. Green Turtle location is AMAZING, berthed on the last dock in the Charleston Marina with sweeping views in every direction. The Marina is within walking distance to ferries, shuttles and services. The Marina houses many high-end yachts. It should be noted, the houseboat is anchored on a two-sided dock. When the other side of the dock is occupied, it impedes the panoramic view. Regardless, the view at in every direction was lovely and I enjoyed seeing the neighbor yacht up close. I highly recommend the...
Read moreSuch a great time -- so much more of an enjoyable experience than a hotel. The boat house is comfy, cute and fully appointed. As are the hosts! LOL -- they are there for anything you need and full of information about the area, the restaurants, etc, that make it so much easier for folks like us on our first time to Boston. ||The location is perfect -- easy walking to North End, Cambridge, Freedom Trail -- great museums at Harvard (art museums are amazing; natural history museum fun as well...the whole town of Boston is a museum, really!) Easy access to the ferry over to the "city" -- at a whopping $3.70 fare. C'mon now. And it's fun to boot! ||If you are walkers, it's an easy to stroll from the Charlestown side to North End, and the walkable bridges make it scenic and enjoyable. Even Ubers are not prohibitive if you don't want to walk off all those Lobstah rolls with buttah from James Hook & Co ( it really is the ONLY lobstah roll in the town, and we were clued in from our host, Jon. He was NOT kidding.) But I digress...||Soooo enjoyed our time on the Green Turtle, we would not think twice about booking there our next trip to BOS. The Turtle was something that highlighted our experience in Boston, and it added fun to the whole...
