Last week, my family and I revisited Pier 6, nestled at 1 8th St in Charlestown, MA📍. Despite having been there nearly a year ago, this visit was dedicated to exploring their enticing fall menu.
Our libation journey began with the “Paper Boat,” a delightful concoction of Maker’s Mark bourbon, aperol, and zesty lemon🍋. A must-try for bourbon enthusiasts, this cocktail set the tone for an evening of palate-pleasing experiences. The classic margarita featuring Ocho Blanco tequila, triple sec, and lime, along with the Piña Colada infused with Blue Chair coconut rum, added a tropical flair. Wrapping up the prelude was the timeless classic, the espresso martini🍸 – a perfect prelude to a delightful meal.
Venturing into appetizers, the Blackened Swordfish🐟 Tacos🌮 showcased a harmonious blend of flavors, accented by avocado lime crema and jicama slaw, earning a solid 8/10. The fried calamari🦑, adorned with sliced cherry peppers, earned a commendable 7/10 for its well-seasoned, zesty appeal. A visual and gastronomic delight, the tuna tartare with avocado🥑, mango🥭, chili oil, and wontons stood out as a favorite, offering a delightful sharing experience.
Transitioning to the main course, the grilled hanger steak with broccoli and watercress salad proved to be a satisfactory choice, meriting a 7/10. However, stealing the spotlight were the pan-seared scallops, sautéed in a vegetable succotash and complemented by a citrus carrot🥕 purée – a truly decadent delight deserving of a 9/10.
Equally impressive was the grilled swordfish, accompanied by Israeli couscous, mussels, cherry tomatoes, and a green olive chimichurri. The flavorful couscous and impeccably fresh swordfish earned this dish a solid 9/10. Concluding the entrees, the seafood fry diavolo 🍝, boasting linguine, spicy pomodoro sauce, mussels, and shrimp🦐, though not overly spicy, delivered a tasty experience with well-cooked mussels🦪 and shrimp, earning a respectable 7/10.
Beyond the culinary delights, Pier 6 offers a breathtaking🌊 view of Boston, coupled with an intimate ambiance. This gem in Charlestown deserves a visit for its excellent dishes and overall dining experience.

Read moreRecently went here for lunch and had a great experience. My only complaints are some of the food and the parking rates. Regardless of these two flukes, I still had a lovely time.
I'll first start off by saying the view of the skyline is AMAZING! We were able to see it from the patio/outside seating, where we were surrounded by sea sounds and a peaceful marine atmosphere. It felt like we were eating on a boat.
Our server was good--attentive and friendly as he should be. Nothing extraordinary to note, but nothing unsatisfactory either.
As for the food, our appetizer, the sweet and sticky chicken wings, tasted amazing. They were just the amount of crispy on the outside, but nice and juicy on the inside. I would definitely recommend those!
I went for a classic burger with fries for my entree. It was pretty ordinary tasting, and the fries were pretty boring. I have had much better at the 99 for half the price.
For dessert I tried the cheesecake and the chocolate cake. The cheesecake was dry and flavorless to my disappointment, but the chocolate cake was delicious and just full of chocolatey goodness! It was gone in under a minute.
The parking rate was insane. I'm pretty sure it was $6/HR and $17 for over two hours (I am not certain on this though, so if this is a concern for you, you should contact the restaurant to confirm). Luckily, we were able to find street parking during the non-busy lunch hours in Charlestown, but I can imagine how annoying it would be to rush your meal on a busy night because you're worried about leaving so as to save money.
The thing that really topped it off for me with this restaurant was, of course, the sights and the location. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason this place is so pricey, because if we're focusing just on the food itself, it doesn't live up to what...
Read moreSpent the evening here for my wife’s 30th birthday. Understanding that we are living in Covid times, our expectations were lowered, but the quick summary is, DO NOT GO HERE. Well, it took about a weeks worth of calls to the restaurant to switch the reservation from 4 to 6 people because online it says to call for parties greater than 4. The reservation did not specifically say we would be treated to a VERY limited menu from what is already a limited menu. So there were no options for our vegan friend, very limited seafood options and really only one option for non-seafood eaters. We ordered a round of drinks and they came relatively quickly, all was going well with the exception of the super limited menu. It took the waiter about 20 minutes to come back and take our order. We were trying to flag her down as she occasionally walked by a few times. There was plenty of waitstaff and not that many tables. This did not get better. Any time we needed more drinks it took a long time to find her. Moving on, the food was really and truly awful and overpriced. This is not an exaggeration the “charcuterie board” was $15 and consisted of 2 pieces of prosciutto, 2 pieces of Brie, 1 piece of goat cheese, 8 (yes exactly 8) grapes and slices of pear that tasted like the pear should have been ripe in a month. The steak and cheese was rock hard, but somehow chewy and very flavorless. Please, if you want anything other than slow service, terrible food, overpriced everything and decent oysters, go somewhere else. I’m not even going to get into them lying about the water taxi service or delivering a birthday surprise cake without candles and just dropping it off saying “here you go” and walking away. Other restaurants are doing so well with the Covid restrictions....
