Amazing oysters for $1 each. Absolutely HORRIBLE service. We literally got cussed out while trying to walk out the door by ERIKA. July 2, 2025 @4:45 pm. We didn't know to wait to be seated - there's no sign. Our mistake. Tried to order a drink at the bar - they asked us to have a seat. No problem. Wait staff kept walking by without even looking at us or taking our order. Finally asked a waitress and they sent someone over - (it's hot here y'all - needed some water badly!). Service was slow, but not an issue; just looking for a cool place to relax and have snacks.
Ordered a second tray of oysters - they were yummy! ERIKA (who was not our waitress) plopped them down on the table without removing the original tray. They were almost in my lap. There's zero room on the tiny round table. I thought I was helping, and picked up the original tray to hand to her. She rolled her eyes and muttered something under her breath as she stomped off. Still not sure what I did wrong there.
ERIKA made multiple trips by our table with eye rolling, sighing and under breath comments. As we were walking out the door, ERIKA rolled her eyes again and called my husband a "tough guy " - not sure what that was about. Other than ordering a few drinks, oysters and asking for the check, he literally said nothing
Trying to leave after paying out, and ERIKA got verbally aggressive and just kept trying to instigate an altercation. She absolutely wouldn't let it go - whatever IT even was. We tried to understand, and even apologized (for what, I'm not sure).
She said to call her 2 bosses - "I'll give you their numbers right now!" Um, yes,...
Read moreOur tour guide on the Freedom Trail recommended we go over to Charlestown and eat at the Warren Tavern. It was an exceptional experience. My only problem, and why I gave only 4 stars for service, is that it is almost impossible to find public parking near the tavern. All the streets are marked “resident permit only.” Another patron told us to go to the Walgreens down the street and park in their lot, which is what I did. Inside, The Warren Tavern was hopping. It was 6 PM on a Thursday night and the place was packed. The man who greeted us found a high top table available and we were seated right away, despite being told we may have to wait a half hour. We started with the crab cakes, which were meaty and buttery. My wife ordered the fresh haddock with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was flaky and delicious. I tried their lobster roll and it was one of the best I had on the East Coast. Our server was funny and helpful with our selections. The beer and wine list is good too. The whole mood of the place is happy and vibrant. Lots of great historical stuff on the walls and ceiling. This is the home where the great Doctor Warren lived, ate and slept during those pivotal days leading up to our war of independence. It was both humbling and a gastronomic delight. You should go, but allow lots of time to find parking (or go to the Walgreens down...
Read moreWe definitely would recommend The Warren tavern. Make a reservation! 🙂 Very busy. Which is great to see! But may not be if you're a walk in group. It is everything you expect a tavern to be. (Except for maybe the reservation thing🤔) Very busy, very loud. The 4 stars for atmosphere are because of the high volume of the interior dining area. I would recommend to the establishment to lower the volume of the background music or turn it off all together. The music went off for a minute or two and the decrease in conversation volume dropped substantially. Anyway, nothing can be done about the conversation volume which is typical a tavern. For some diners though, like one of the people in our party, the volume was a bit uncomfortable. Fortunately there was an open table on the outside seating area which the staff was more than happy to move us to. (The volume is worth mentioning, not a detriment to our experience) It was also a bit warm inside. The place was packed, which lends itself to a higher temperature. (Again, not a big deal, just worth mentioning in my) Always happy to see a small business thriving. The staff and food were fantastic. We also find it fascinating that the tavern has been in business since 1790. Talk about a historical landmark! I wonder if its the same owner?🤔😄 Dad...
