Overall, would not come back. I went here twice, and both times I felt disappointed because their cafe next door is quite good. Really wanted to like the place, but no dice.
If you got a craving and this is the only spot, then fine. This place does the trick. But dude, you got options and some more well-known taquerias are opening in Allston not 2 minutes away that are better.
The food: Two burritos, one birria and one steak. I don't get other people's complaints about the portion size. I thought they were fine. However, there is an additional charge for most of the meats (including the birria and the steak), putting them somewhat under $15 each. If it was good, no big deal. But the meat lacked flavor. Even the pico lacked flavor. Just tasted all the same each bight. The biggest complaint though, surprisingly, is the tortilla. It was very disappointing, broke easily even when they were trying to wrap it. The man had to get another tortilla to double wrap. Taco: Lacked flavor all the same as the burrito
Service: The first time, looks like they were still in training. No big deal. Came home to find out we were charged an extra 50 cents(?) cause they thought it was the same meat on both burritos. Still, I get it. People in training. I'm not complaining over 50 cents unless it happens again 2nd time, came in. Only person there. Try to get the lady's attention who was closer. Totally did not hear me multiple times. Two other guys sitting at one of the tables. Only until one of the guys actually saw me did they take my order and everything went smooth.
So overall, I don't plan to come back and encouraging others not to come too if they got other choices. Go to their cafe next door. That place is good. Just not here.
EDIT 10/6/2025: So because someone responded saying I should go back, I did. I got three tacos, one with birria, steak, and chicken. Staff still sit at the dining tables when no one is there, but someone saw me promptly and served me right away. Brought the tacos home to eat. Ate them, and they were solid tacos. Mind blowing? No. But solid, yes! I added a star for the tacos. But man, 15 dollars? That's expensive. Chalk it up to maybe it being Halal? Still, I would not come back by price alone. You can get cheaper. But limited options or need Halal(?), then yeah I'd consider...
Read moreLazuri has become a staple in Boston’s Muslim community for its variety and high quality of food, offering the area a more diverse halal dining experience. The food is always freshly prepared and the staff is friendly and welcoming. My only criticism falls on the portion sizes relative to the cost of the food. I would definitely encourage management to consider increasing portion sizes considerably, as it currently isn’t feasible for a small family to have a full meal here without paying a hefty price. But all things considered, the quality of the food at Lazuri is top-notch, and the presentability of the food is amazing. I know that many in the area would appreciate portion adjustments, as it would definitely add to the list of reasons to eat again at...
Read moreA little disappointed with my order, I was looking forward to trying halal mexican. The restaurant forgot my fries I ordered and paid for, and Ubereats won't offer refund either. The chicken was very bland and not flavorful and in large chunks, I wish it was shredded and more tasteful like authentic mexican carnitas type. The tortilla was not grilled or warmed and did not taste good, seemed like a taco I could make at home myself and was dry. Burrito was also disappointing, the rice was dry and did not seem fresh, beans tasted like canned beans. The idea to make halal mexican is great, but the food...
