Located in the heart of Dorchester's Vietnamese community, Pho Hoa is a great destination for phos and authentic Vietnamese cuisines. My friends and I recently took a visit for an early dinner and were surprised to find the place busy. We ordered two of their signature offerings: Phở Đặc Biệt and Cơm Đặc Biệt. The pho was a blend of different beef cuts—eye round steak, brisket, flank, fatty flank, tendon, and tripe. The broth tasted exactly like the ones I tasted in Hanoi: simple with depth of flavor added from modest amount of beef fat. It was comforting, hearty, and deeply satisfying, capturing the essence of traditional Vietnamese pho. The Cơm Đặc Biệt was also flawless. The grilled pork chop was sweet, succulent, and flawlessly cooked. The myriad accompaniments—from the shrimp tofu and julienned pork skin to the fried egg—elevated each bite with intricate texture combinations. The inclusion of pickled carrots and daikon provided a nice, tangy counterpoint to the richness of the other elements. While the service experienced a minor hiccup—our drink orders were forgotten and we were seated under a leaky AC unit—our server was incredibly friendly and did his best to make our experience enjoyable.

This is a review of the pho take-out experience. First positive is that they include a bowl (!) - first place I've found that does this for take out. The soup comes separate in a spill-proof container, noodles and meats in the bowl, veggies and sauces in a bag, chopsticks and spoon + fork - everything you need to eat on the go or at work. The broth is balanced and clean, very refreshing, not overly oily, good blend of pho spices without any single spice dominating too much. Veggies are fresh and plentiful. Meat/tendon/tripe is good quality, though I would have enjoyed a little more (I ordered a regular size). That being said, I'll take quality over quantity in this case. Overall, probably the best pho takeout experience I've had (sit down at the restaurant is the best way to enjoy, but sometimes you can't - this pho was not disappointing). The photo is after I'd start eating, looked more appetizing before I dug in. Verdict: Solid pho choice in the greater Boston area, top 3 of the many I've tried

I will never come back again, the owner of this restaurant is cunning and greedy. The food is average, but the service is bad. I walked out of this place with a bad taste in my mouth. My wife ordered a “Combination Rice”, I ordered a Pho Xe Lửa. The waitress was a young Vietnamese woman who could barely speak any English. With a very heavy ascent, she asked me a question which I didn’t understand and had to ask her to repeat, slowly she said “do you want to add a big bowl ? (to share the noodles with my wife ). “Oh!” I politely replied “yes please”. At the end of the meal when the bill came, there was an extra charge of $3.98 for “beef meatball”. I questioned why the extra charge for one tiny piece of beef ball the size of a grape, the waitress said “you ordered it”. She said I asked you “do you want to add a beef ball ?”……”It’s already in the computer, you have to pay!”.she said. Sneaky practice!

My boyfriend and I were in town for a week. Wanted to try some Vietnamese food since where we live dont really have any good Vietnamese food. Went on Yelp/Google and this place has the best reviews and so we went. Food was authentic and fresh. I went a little crazy with ordering for 2 people as you can see. What I love about this place compare to other restuarants and mainly many other Vietnamese restaurants is for their service. We got there 30 minutes before closing but the server did not rush us at all whether to order or to eat. Very attentive, refilled my boyfriend's water 3x before the glass was empty (been to upscale restuarants and I don't even see that type of service happening much 😑😑)..they got a big tip that night for sure. Clean and spacious place as well
