Located in the heart of Dorchester's Vietnamese community, Pho Hoa is a great destination for phos and authentic Vietnamese cuisines. My friends and I recently took a visit for an early dinner and were surprised to find the place busy. We ordered two of their signature offerings: Phở Đáș·c Biệt and CÆĄm Đáș·c Biệt. The pho was a blend of different beef cuts—eye round steak, brisket, flank, fatty flank, tendon, and tripe. The broth tasted exactly like the ones I tasted in Hanoi: simple with depth of flavor added from modest amount of beef fat. It was comforting, hearty, and deeply satisfying, capturing the essence of traditional Vietnamese pho. The CÆĄm Đáș·c Biệt was also flawless. The grilled pork chop was sweet, succulent, and flawlessly cooked. The myriad accompaniments—from the shrimp tofu and julienned pork skin to the fried egg—elevated each bite with intricate texture combinations. The inclusion of pickled carrots and daikon provided a nice, tangy counterpoint to the richness of the other elements. While the service experienced a minor hiccup—our drink orders were forgotten and we were seated under a leaky AC unit—our server was incredibly friendly and did his best to make our experience enjoyable.

This place used to be my all time favorite but after a very bad experience with the staff I decided to not patronize this place for a while. However, upon return I decided to dine in on this trip and was reminded why I stopped making the trip across town to visit!

I wash my hands before every meal so as I go in the restroom to do so I am followed in by an employee who washes his hands as well.

Here is the kicker after he “washed” his hands he enters a stall for 30 seconds comes out and heads back out to the dining area without rewashing his hands.

My guess is that he was sent in behind me to find out what I was doing in there and when he entered the best way to play it off was wash his hands but going in the stall after Drew heavy suspicion.

Strike 1..

As I go back to my table there are two of the dirtiest cups filled with nasty tap water with food floating around in one and what appeared to be milk running down the side of the other.

I requested clean glasses as The server comes over to the table with NO introduction just a “what do you guys want” meanwhile she is talking to her Vietcong buddy who walked through the door from the outside!

I asked her for a suggestion and she didn’t know the menu AT ALL!! Giving her a F On customer service I decided maybe the food would be the saving grace as it usually is!

Strike 2.....

So I get the PHO because it was a cold night and some chicken skewers because I just love the grilled meats here.. YOU can’t mess up on boiling water and fresh ingredients so my soup was perfect but BIG MISTAKE on the apps.

Having a fish allergy i inspect all foods before consuming and the skewers had a shrimp hidden inside the bed of lettuce. 😡😡😡 it appeared that they used a dirty plate to put my apps on to serve me.

Strike 3.....

I asked for the check paid my bill and left a 50cent tip.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PACE AT ALL! I hear pho le is better and I will try them out to see!

Enter this place at your own risk but you’ve...

My brother & I went to this restaurant because he wanted PHO! I normally don't eat Pho outside of my home because It's really not that good any where I've tried in Boston. The place wasn't that busy but it took a while before anyone came to the table to wait on us about 15 minutes. We place our drink order & appetizers. The appetizers came rather quickly once we ordered.

We ordered Cha Gio (eggrolls) they were only okay. nothing special! We ordered Goi Cuon Tom (shrimp springroll) that was ok! The sauce for both dishes were not good at all. The nuoc mam (fish sauce) which is common for all Vietnamese dishes was too strong, not sweet enough & not enough vinegar. At least that what I thought of it. The peanut sauce for the springroll was just a spoon of peanut butter & a spoon of hot pepper sauce! What the Heck! We also ordered the Chao Tom (Sugar Cane Shrimp) it was good but no sugar cane.

For our entree we both ordered Pho Dac Biet - Beef soup with tones of meat different types & Tripe. The soup broth was only okay! The tripe was too hard & unable to eat. The flank tendon in the soup was not soft enough. The noodles was also over cooked!

I won't be eating here again. They need a major improvement in the quality of there food. I'm Vietnamese & I know our food is delicious! This restaurant didn't display the quality & taste of Vietnamese food that it deserves!

I did leave a good tip even though they were slow to wait on us at the beginning! I believe in tipping well even if the service...

I went with my family - party of 7 around 2 PM in the afternoon. The location is nice with ample parking, making the restaurant accessible without resorting to wasted time finding a place to park in the streets. The restaurant is nice and tidy inside with well-dressed staff. At the time of arrival, the restaurant had plenty of empty tables so we were seated right away. Everything was good until it was time to receive service.

We ordered some bowls of BĂșn bĂČ Huáșż, Pho Dac Biet, and Rice Plates, supplemented with a soft drink, water, and strawberry smoothies. The bowl noodles came out in adequate time, but the rice plates came out much later. The food was extremely lacking - both in taste and in presentation. The noodles in the Pho was still partially raw and didn't properly soften up till much later. Service was practically non-existent... so much that we still haven't received our drinks AFTER most of us finished our meal. I understand that Strawberry Smoothies take a little bit of time, vut how hard is it to prepare cold water and a soft drink for some people? I had to look for service at the bar area just to let them know we haven't gotten our drinks. I won't be coming back to this restaurant until they get their priorities straight.

TL;DR - Location/Parking is good - Price is Average. -...
