I was recently at a multi-day conference at the University of Colorado Boulder and I came across Bento-ria nestled over at the Hill in Boulder. What immediately stood out to me was the delectable Japanese cuisine with affordability and a warm, family and student-friendly atmosphere. Conveniently located right next to campus, I decided to give Bento-ria a try after reading and hearing good things about this charming eatery, which is apparently a favorite among locals and students alike.
And guess what? It did not disappoint! I ended up eating lunch there three days straight.
Bento-ria's menu boasts a delightful array of Japanese dishes, but I always ordered the Miso Soup, Salmon Rolls, and Spicy Buff Rolls. Because it was my first time visiting Colorado and I came at a time when it was super cold, the Miso Soup really helped me out as it warmed my soul. The Spicy Buff Rolls are a spicy seafood lover's dream come true. The melt-in-your-mouth tuna, coupled with a perfect blend of spicy mayo, eel sauce, and crunchy onion flakes, created a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds. Equally impressive were the Salmon Rolls, featuring succulent, fresh salmon enveloped in perfectly seasoned rice and nori. Each bite was fantastic, to say the least!
Can I just say how I really respect Bento-ria's prices that will not break the bank? The affordability of its menu is particularly noteworthy for students and budget-conscious diners. Generous portion sizes and reasonable prices made it easy for me to indulge in a satisfying meal without sacrificing flavor or quality.
However, what truly set Bento-ria apart was the friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by this family-run establishment. The staff, who are warm and personable, made me feel like I was dining in their own home. The cashier was even kind enough to recommend nice places for me to check out around the Boulder area. Whether you are a regular or a first-time visitor, the staff's genuine enthusiasm and dedication to customer satisfaction made each dining experience memorable.
Every time I was there, it seemed Bento-ria was the go-to spot for students seeking a delicious and convenient dining option. The sushi restaurant's location makes it an ideal choice for a quick lunch between classes or a relaxing dinner after a long day of studying. The accessibility of Bento-ria adds an extra layer of appeal, making it a hub for both locals and the academic community.
As a local favorite and a haven for students, Bento-ria is a must-visit destination that effortlessly combines quality, affordability, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Simply put, if you want the best bang for your buck then Bento-ria is THE...

On Tuesday, I ordered food from them and it ended up being I HOUR AND 45 MINUTE WAIT, they first called after being hour wait and said it was going to twenty more minutes (which ended up being 45 minutes) and when I expressed frustration, they pretty much hung up on me. I emailed HungerBuffs about it the next day and they said that Bento-ria had their own drivers and I had to deal with them, I didn't want to deal with it(I'm finishing grad school right now). The topper came today, when I opened the miso, which I just opened for first time and there were bugs/small flies in it. When I called to ask about a refund, because of the long wait time and bugs being in my soup. They first told me that there were not bugs in the soup and when I addressed that there were wings on the bugs and seaweed doesn't have wings, they said they would call me back, when I said that I didn't want more miso. The owner, then called back and spoke to me aggressively about my order and one point said HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO COME TO MY HOUSE AFTER HOURS TO DEAL WITH THIS. I said I didn't want that, I just wanted a refund. This is absolutely...
Read moreReally fantastic sushi here - I've tried all the major sushi places in Boulder, and currently this is by far the best place in town to go if you want the basics done properly. This is the only place where you can get a tuna roll + salmon roll for less than $10, too. Temperature is always excellent, rice is perfectly cooked, and after eating here twice a week for a couple months, I've not gotten sick once - to the contrary, their food always makes me feel good.
Miso soup especially is excellent here as well, and I'm extremely particular about my miso soup - 3/4s of the time when I get it at some sushi place it's disappointing, but not here.
In summary: tasty, well-made, nourishing Japanese food at an affordable price - a rarity! One thing though, I would skip the dumplings here - they're pre-made and definitely not up to the par of the other offerings I've...
