I'll preface this by saying my low review has nothing to do with the quality of their food. This is all about the business itself and a questionable decision it made. It chose to participate in a local running race by offering a free cookie to finishers. Finishers received a coupon for the free cookie via email. In fairness, that coupon said recipients needed to print it out in order to get the free cookie. But come on! In today's society of environmental stewardship, you're really going to force people to print out a coupon, wasting paper, so they can receive a cookie that costs a couple bucks? Really?
Why make this environmentally unfriendly decision that places an inconvenience on potential cutsomers? Probably because the company knew fewer people would actually redeem the coupon and the company wouldn't have to give out as many free cookies.
Personally, when going to the establishment to redeem my coupon, I thought, "Surely, they're not going to make me waste a piece of paper to get a cookie." But alas, that's what they said when I walked in. They refused to honor the coupon when I showed it to them on my phone.
Glad to know you're looking out for the environment, Boulder Baked!
UPDATE - REPLY TO BOULDER BAKED: Of the 12 companies that sponsored rewards, you are literally the only one to require customers to print a coupon and waste paper. To say that was the "only" option is just lazy. What about getting a whiteboard and writing an X on it for every coupon presented? Or putting a single piece of paper by the register to do that? Or reconfiguring the register so a certain input would track the coupons? Or putting a jar by the register and putting a marble in it every time a customer redeemed a coupon? You had many options and you chose to force people to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFound this place and was super excited to try it! Reviews were great and pictures looked very enticing. Made my way over and was a little taken aback by the inside. Very dark and was completely empty. I made my way to the display case and was asked what I wanted and I said I had never been and was just looking. The man awkwardly paused and the just said āokayā and then proceeded to go just stare at me silently. Probably not his intention, but I did feel rushed when that happened. I looked over and saw their cupcakes and felt they werenāt the most appealing. I then saw their refrigerated case had cookies and those looked better than anything else so I just got one of those. I got the chocolate chip with icing and semi sweet chips on top as garnish. It was ice cold so almost had a bit of an ice cream sandwich like vibe, but it just wasnāt good. The icing was way too sweet, the cookie wouldāve been 100x better, in my opinion, warm. The fact that it was so cold and hard was a real turn off for me. It was also $6. Although the circumference was large, it was incredibly thin. The layer of icing on top was twice as thick as the cookie. Just a huge, huge let down all around. Iāve been to tons of different bakeries around the metro (take a look at my other reviews) and beyond, this one by far is on my top 5 worst...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a person that eats GF and DF, I needed to check this place out while I was in town. I got a gluten-free and dairy-free chocolate cup cake with white frosting. My partner got a regular German chocolate cupcake. As we were checking out, we saw the cookies sign on the wall and asked about the GF/DF cookies. They needed to be baked so we waited 10 min for them. Got the gluten-free chocolate one and the gluten-free and dairy-free peanut butter ones. My partner ate his cupcake while we waited for the cookies. I took all mine home as the cookies were freshly baked and needed a few to cool down. I tried the cookies when we got home, and they had a weird flavor. I thought it was me and closed them up to try the next day. I tried them again the next day and still this odd flavor to them. I cannot put my finger on the flavor I just didnāt like it and disregarded both cookies. I asked my partner about his cupcake he said it was fine. I tried my cupcake, and I can tell you the cake itself was AMAZING! It had good flavor, was moist and all around yummy. But I can also tell you I hated the frosting; it tasted like it was made from Crisco and I promptly discarded it. I hate to do this when it is a small bakery, but I feel I must be honest. Parking was also difficult at night when a dance class...
