So I'm gonna be totally honest with my review that I've only PHYSICALLY been inside the store once or twice before. It's pretty cute, clean, has a nice mellow vibe, and service has been fine. Friendly staff, etc.
However, ordering online/delivery seems to be kind of... iffy.
I ALWAYS get a "overloaded/overstuffed" Turkey Club sandwich, with a little added ham. I swap the garlic mayo for regular.
I've called and asked for modifications several times now, and they just never do them. It's really weird. They are so chipper and happy on the phone (and I always make sure not to order at too busy of an hour, since I know my order is slightly more complicated), and TELL me they'll do them no problem, but they're never actually done for some reason. No clue why. I always ask for extra mayo and for my bread to be toasted. Literally has never happened in the 5+ times I've ordered a sandwich from there. It's gotten to a point where I've totally given up on trying to call before an order, and I just toast my bread once it arrives. (Which doesn't really work with condiment-covered bread but... anyway.)
It's not an attitude problem via phone or anything, like I said, the people I talk to are overwhelmingly sweet. I remember once that one girl even talked me through every smoothie option and such, since I'd never had one before, and the menu online wasn't giving me much information. Gave me some great recommendations. I genuinely think it's a matter of mentally spacing my requests out somehow?
Also, the sandwich portions are really.... inconsistent in my experience so far? Most of the time I get a sandwich the size of my head that weighs a ton (which is how I like my sandwiches) and that's been delicious, but a couple times, I got a sandwich with little to no meat. And I'd paid for overstuffed AND additional meat. One time it was so bad that there were LITERALLY two to three pieces of turkey on the entire sandwich. I wish I was kidding.
I wanna give this place five stars SO badly because I LOVE the business model, the food options, location, vibe, etc... Staff also seems very nice honestly, I just literally don't understand why one thing seems to go wrong every time. I actually felt bad the two times I had to request a refund, because the sandwiches were made SO incorrectly... cause honestly, it genuinely seems unintentional, but it's still kind of frustrating to deal with.
Overall, I really do like this spot, and will probably continue to order from here. Some improvements could be made to online/delivery ordering though. All the food I've had has been really delicious though, even the few times when it was prepared totally wrong, which I think at LEAST says a lot about the actual quality of the ingredients and such. Also, the smoothies and ice cream sundaes and such in particular are really great. I will totally update my review if my delivery/phone order experiences change.
EDIT: So I've ordered about 3 more sandwiches since I posted this review, and unfortunately, still the same problems. I did finally muster up the courage to start asking on the phone for my order specifications, and again, staff has been helpful, kind, etc. So I'm SUPER confused why this keeps happening, if I'm honest. Once again, one of the sandwiches was definitely was NOT overstuffed, it was understuffed if anything, yet again. Twice now they've forgotten to give me chips, a side pickle, and the drink I ordered. and not one time have they ever 'toasted the bread' like I've asked. I've had to LITERALLY deconstruct the entire sandwich every single time it arrives just to toast the bread. It's a little annoying. I feel like that's a PRETTY basic request for a deli. Food has at least consistently been delicious though. No complaints on that. Just confused on why I keep being told one thing on the phone, or why I put order instructions that are ignored, especially when it's literally two requests: Toasted bread and extra mayo. Not one time has that been done, unfortunately.
Also... my last sandwich had a huge piece of saranwrap in it....
Read moreWe ate at Lindsay's yesterday at approximately 3:30 PM for lunch - first time in the restaurant. I'll start by saying that the food was great. Among the items we had were the buffalo chicken sandwich, the "Italian Stallion", and a roast beef sandwich.
Unfortunately, nearly every other part of the experience was negative: It took over 5 minutes for someone to come to the register to take down my order. A group of young adult-aged employees was at the back of the store, chatting and laughing with each other. During the payment processing, you're prompted to submit a tip and the options are 20%, 15%, 10% or Other, and selecting Other actually cancels the card. The cashier had to explain how to get past this menu, which is absurd in the first place. This is a fast food restaurant; you pay at the register and the food comes out, just like Chick-Fil-A or McAlisters. Why does it seem necessary to insinuate a 20% tip (or 15%, or 10%) for this nominal service? Our order took over 20 minutes to deliver, which is frankly ridiculous. All of our orders were cold sandwiches, and ours was the only standing order. The restaurant was filthy. There were baskets of finished meals all over the place, the floor was covered in crumbs and napkins, the trashcans were literally overflowing, and there were less than 10 customers in the place. It seemed like there was no emphasis on intra-day cleaning of surfaces or floors. It was honestly pretty gross. I used the restroom shortly before we left and found that there was no soap in the soap dispenser. This is unacceptable for a multitude of reasons, and again calls back to the lack of emphasis on upkeep throughout the day. Also, I'm left wondering how, without soap, the employees handling my food are washing their hands.
Overall, we were left disappointed after our experience based on all of the above factors. Given the price of our lunch and the expectation of a gratuity, Lindsay's Boulder Deli should have better service, have a cleaner environment, and take better care of...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of ordering a build-your-own sandwich at Lindsay’s Deli, and I must say, it was an absolute disaster. The sandwich was missing two crucial ingredients that I had specifically requested: tomatoes and bacon. How can a sandwich be called a "build-your-own" when it doesn't even have the basic components that were asked for? It was a complete let down and not to mention it was $14!!!! But the disappointment didn't stop there. When the sandwich finally arrived, it looked like it had been hastily thrown together by a child. The two pieces of bread were barely holding together, and the single piece of wilted lettuce that had been thrown on top did nothing to improve the sad state of affairs. It was an insult to sandwich-making, and to my taste buds. would strongly advise anyone looking for a decent sandwich to steer clear of this establishment. The build-your-own sandwich was an utter disappointment, and the lack of care put into it was just plain disrespectful. Save your money and your taste buds and look elsewhere for a sandwich worth eating. I would strongly advise anyone looking for a decent sandwich to steer clear of this establishment.
