I will change my review once I go see the show I bought tickets for but currently couldn't be more disappointed. The website showed the hours of operation and I went during the time. When I showed up the box office was closed due to a weekend event. Didn't show the box office was closed. When I walked up to the front the man there was not helpful at all. Said I could buy tickets online or come back in a bit because someone with the box office should show up at some point. I ended up grabbing some food while waiting. When I went back a different man was there from the box office. He told me to just buy the tickets online because I still have to pay a service fee. And buying at the box office only allows the venue to keep the service fee. Is it just me or would everyone else prefer the area you live in to benefit off service fees and not some big conglomerate. Then the guy suggested that I go over to Fox theater and get the tickets. I was like. That's awesome! I'll just run over there. The whole time. I was talking with this man. There were four ladies standing in the box office who kept looking at me and laughing. Super unprofessional, especially during such a frustrating experience. I left, went to Fox, got the tickets and had the best experience ever. I wish the show was being played at the fox theater, not Boulder, but I'm excited to see if the acoustics in the sound are on point. Update: went and saw Silversun Pickups last night and it was amazing. Even though I had a hard time with the box office, the venue was amazing, the staff working that night was amazing as well. From now on I'll just get tickets from Fox theater for Boulder theater shows when I can because the venue itself is...
Read moreCool old historic venue up in Boulder, I liked the balcony with the seats up top to enjoy the show. Bar service was very suspicious to say the least… My wife and I got there and ordered our first drinks from an older lady bartender I’m guessing was in her 50s? We ordered one cocktail and a beer and when I went to hand her my card she asked “do you want to leave it open or close it?” I told her to please close it out (I don’t like starting tabs in general) then she comes back and says “okay I left it open for ya, just come back at the end of the night to close out” so I said “I literally just said you can close it…why did you even ask if you’re going to leave it open?” Which she replied with “it’s no big deal, if you don’t come back to close out we just charge an automatic 20% gratuity on your card” so I thought this was weird but I was going to tip that anyways so I just went back to enjoy the show. When I went back down to buy another round of drinks and close my tab, that same bartender made the whole interaction so awkward and uncomfortable. When I asked to close my tab she says “Really?! You’re not gonna drink anything else all night?” With a very condescending tone. I told her “no thank you, I’m driving home tonight so I stop after 2 drinks” she then rolled her eyes and continued to try and sell me more drinks. I kept declining and she finally let me close my tab. I felt like I was talking to a used car salesman trying to sell me a shitty extended warranty…I’m pretty sure I got overcharged too. I also bartend and have never seen this type of shady behavior before… it’s too bad this whole experience kinda ruined an otherwise great show last night. I doubt I’ll be...
Read moreWhile the venue claims to be ADA compliant, nothing could be further from the truth. They have no compliant access to seats, they do not have required dispersed seating, or seating in all ticket levels. They require wheelchair users to contact them for seating, but when I contacted them, because I use a speech generating device, they hung up on me, so I couldnt talk to them. The CEO refused to meet with us when we were denied access to the seats we purchased. They refused a cash refund.
The Americans with Disabilites Act was passed over 28 years ago, yet the Boulder Theater ignores their obligations and discriminates against disabled individuals. Department of Justice regulations are clear about seating requirements and ticket sales. The DOJ states "Venues and third-party sellers must provide the same information about accessible seats as provided about non-accessible seats, using the same text and visual representations. Typically information about location, price, view, and seat availability is provided. Accessible seats must be described in enough detail to permit the purchaser to determine if a seat meets his or her needs. If a venue has detailed maps or displays of seating configurations on its website or if it provides seating information in its pamphlets or brochures, including information for particular events or shows, it must include information on accessible seating in the same detail as is provided on non-accessible seating,"
This venue violates the civil rights of people with disabilities. By giving them business, you are supporting...
