Vision Quest is a hidden gem off of Foothills Parkway in Boulder. It's in the Boulder Fermentation Supply (homebrew) store where the owners have used their intellect and creativity to open up a Brewery in their garage space. Vision Quest beers are all in smaller batches, and are rotating constantly. I have not once had a beer that I didn't fawn over. Originality and authenticity drive their passion for beer and one is not left wanting. You'll find a wide array of beer styles, from their belgian wit "Wittle Pwesent" to their IPA "CHUM & CO" which is a braggot IPA with Simcoe hops (the current batch has wildflower honey added) for a more floral and less piney IPA, one is destined to find a beer they enjoy. They have a couple of saisons on tap now as well, the barrel aged being my favorite with a strong compliment from the wood of the barrel while maintaining that funk a good saison should keep. Oh! I would be so remiss not to mention their Plymouth Stuffing beer, an amber style with herbs and spices. This beer tastes like straight up dressing (I'm from the South, we don't put bread in our birds) and is a can't miss if it's still on tap. You almost feel like chewing the taste is so spot on. The also have a smoked amber lager on right now that is also fantastic. I'm not an amber fan in general, but these people do it right. The owners Adam and Greg are incredibly knowledgeable and when it's a bit slower are more than happy to discuss all the aspects of their beer with you, and if you home brew have an encyclopedic knowledge of ways to improve your systems and beer. Vision Quest has recently extended their hours and are now open on Mondays and Tuesdays as well. If you love beer this is an absolute must stop while you're in Boulder. For my money, it's the best newer brewery in town and is tied with Wild Woods for me as top...
Read moreI highly recommend Vision Quest Brewery. The beers here are excellent and they taste like the tap lines are kept really clean, the flavor of the beer is uncontaminated by any hint of staleness. Also, they have an awesome Open Mic on Wednesday nights hosted by Jim Herlihy. The sound system is excellent and the audience is a mix of performers with a healthy dose of listeners who are NOT performing, which makes for a very good audience. Also the young lady behind the bar is a sweetheart with a big smile, who gets my vote as the darlin'est tap puller in the country. At least on Wednesday nights. The atmosphere is comfy funky and the people are friendly and generous. Big thanks to Mike, a member of the audience who bought me a beer after my set, and then sat and traded stories with me. I'll be back next...
Read moreDelicious and fun beers! Don’t come here expecting something standard. Adventurous tastebuds will appreciate the beer menu here.
Sampled (right to left in my pic):
Hazy IPA - solid but not a standout Flanders Red - pucker up for this tasty sour Tell No Tales - syrupy and sweet, a tad strong on the maple syrup Liopluradon - yummy stout but the chili does stand out Panna Cotta - sour, fruity, great for summer
Props to the bartender, came on a Saturday afternoon and outdoor tables were full. He grabbed an empty table (had been paired with another to seat larger groups but wasn’t being used) relocated it and gave us a spot. Really appreciated this during pandemic....
