Not recommended... Came from Ontario to visit for Hot Rod Power Tour and we went here to eat for dinner and the service was absolutely horrible. First off, our server did not even speak English so asking things like "are refills free?" had us being looked at like we had 2 heads. I had ordered my food which was a steak fajita burrito. No where on the menu does it mention anything about a $1 upcharge for steak but yet upon receiving the bill it was being added to my bill. Now $1 is not alot but how can you not put it on the menu and then charge someone for it?? Then upon approaching the male bartender working at the time, I questioned why it was being charged and the answer I got was just because that's what the computer says. I told him that's not really acceptable and after asking if this charge could be removed the employee basically tried pulling my own credit card out of my hand which was extremely uncalled for so he could proceed with the payment on my card. With all due respect, you need to train your employees that trying to pull someone's payment of method out from between the customers fingers without permission to do so is completely unacceptable. Needless to say the employee made it clear that the $1 charge that came out of left field was not able to be refunded. Okay no problem now you're waiter just lost $8 in tips over this. Understand that helping the customer out when they are not in the wrong can go much further than trying to screw the customer for $1. I'm sure Juana P. was not very happy to spend all that time serving a table and to receive no tip out of it when it was completely out of her control. My recommendation is save yourself the time plus money at this restaurant and try somewhere else. This is not a professional operation by any means. Food was mediocre at best. The service is what killed everything.

My fiance and I were out in Bowling Green, Kentucky on a roadtrip on May 16, 2023. After begging him to go to this restaurant all day from finding it on a ‘restaurants near me’ search I had done, he finally gave in and we went. On google it had a 4.2 star review so I trusted this would be a good place to have dinner. We were seated very quickly and our waiter's name was Lucas who came and got our drink orders very quickly. For my drink, I had a margarita, and my fiance had a diet coke that arrived in almost a pitcher sort of glass which I was very impressed by because my fiance drinks a lot of diet. The chips and salsa were absolutely delicious! I observed how the silverware had a short little tie of yarn around it which I liked a lot because it made me feel their silverware was very clean. I ordered a Lone Star burrito with steak and no black beans. When it came out, there was verde salsa and cilantro on it. I absolutely LOVED it! In terms of price to quality of food, I feel it's right on because the food is just really great! The service was very fast and our waiter was very polite. All in all, I have told my fiance multiple times now, if we ever find ourselves in Bowling Green again, this is where we will be eating!

On our way to Atlanta, we had a pitstop in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We were driving for several hours and we were starved! We passed by several restaurants but we had a taste for Mexican food and took a chance on El Maguey! Boy did we make the right decision! The staff was super nice and service was quick. Also the bathrooms were super clean which is a sign to me that the place is clean, which it was. We dined in. I had the El Pastor tacos which were so delicious! Now to be fair, this was my first time having El Pastor tacos, so I don’t have any other restaurants to compare them to, however I believe that people who have had the El Pastor tacos will agree with me that these were delicious. If you are ever in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area, I would recommend visiting El Maguey Mexican restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was great too!

Terrible customer service! Went out there on a Tuesday night and when we got there the restaurant was not busy. There was several occupied tables inside the restaurant and a few occupied tables outside and since it was still a pleasant temperature outside we decided to eat outside. Once the hostess seated us down while waiting on the waitress to take our order about 10 minutes later another table got occupied with 4 new customers. The waitress came out and instead of taking our order first since we got there first she took their order first. About 5 minutes later she brought their drinks as she was bringing their drinks 2 more people joined another table that was there already and they all had their drinks and food already so the waitress hopped out to them and took their order instead of ours. 5 min later she comes back brings them their drinks and never comes to our table. I made eye contact with the waitress several times since we came in just to make sure she knows we was there. About 30 min later the waitress finally comes to our table and gets our drink order and leaves. We had to wait another 20 minutes for her to return with our drinks. Finally when she returned with the drinks we place our order and another 15 minutes passed before we got to eat. We had 3 chicken tacos, 2 beef tacos and 2 Maguey Arroz. The Beef tacos were good and so was the Maguey Arroz but the chicken tacos were dry and nasty. This was the 3rd time we was in the restaurant and first time had a great experience but my second and 3rd time we had identical experience. Most of the food is good but customer service is BEYOND TERRIBLE! I am very unsatisfied and not pleased with the last TWO visits that we had at El Maguey. If you want my honest opinion about this restaurant I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT OVER AN HOUR TO GET YOUR DRINK AND EVEN LONGER...

Horrible! We were passing through and decided to give the place a try...big mistake! The server appeared to be drunk. He kept touching us, stumbling and forgetting what he was saying. He was nice and kept our drinks full so we tolerated it. I don't know where to start with the food. Awful! First, the kid's macaroni and cheese was made with a nacho cheese too as the cheese with no indication on the menu. It had a bit of spice and was no bueno for macaroni and cheese or for most toddlers. We replaced that with French fries which were decent. My husband ordered a steak sandwhich in French bread (at a Mexican restaurant). First, the admitted to taking to the wrong table so it took a long time to get a fresh one to us. When the meal finally arrived, it was a very small steak piece on a seasme seed bun?! We inquired and they told us that they were not selling it well so they no longer ordered the French bread. OK, thanks for the head's up. My husband finally got "jumbo" shrimp with fries. "Jumbo" is evidently a term that can be applied whenever because these shrimp were quite small. They were decent (maybe because he was so hungry by the time he got food). I cannot recall the name of my dish but what I can say is that it had mole sauce on it (supposedly). The sauce literally tasted like a mix of soy sauce, worschestire sauce and chili powder. It was nasty and overpowering! I am not sure what the actual food tastes like to be honest because nothing could be tasted over that. No apologies and no address of any situations! To top it off, as we left, we saw the sign that kids eat free that day...we paid for our kid's food. :( That being said, the decor was very nice. I hope that when this place fails that maybe someone can open a place with good food to match...
