We love Yuki. They have the best sushi in town and the staff is usually very friendly. Our family of 5, two adults and three teenagers, choose to eat at Yuki on a regular basis for our family dinner nights. My son chose Yuki last night and we had a lovely meal. However, when I was handed my check, there was a 20% gratuity added in for a party of 5. Both my wife and I worked in the service industry in our younger days, and consider ourselves good tippers. But in this situation, 20% added gratuity seemed wrong. We arrived at 5:30 on a Wednesday, were there less than an hour and did not have separate checks or a difficult order. Our drinks were empty half of the time and the server said little to us. I am okay with a party of 8 or more with 18% gratuity added with no separate checks, but a FAMILY? Of 5? 20%? I asked the server if that has been the policy and she said yes. We have never noticed it or been charged before. No other comments from the server. I asked to speak to the manager as we were leaving. I was told they were busy. The host then pointed her out in the bar. I walked over to wait to ask her about the gratuity. I then went back to the hostess and asked if she knew the answer. Has this always been the policy? She said that the server must have not recognized us as regulars and "didn't want to take the chance of not getting as good of a tip." She then showed me on the menu, on the bottom of the last page, under the soft drinks, where it states parties of 5 or more will have a 20% gratuity added. I will continue to love Yuki's sushi, and I might be back solo or with my wife. But I can not bring my family there again due to this insane policy. Do...
Read moreOnce considered higher-end dining in Bowling Green, Yuki has really gone downhill while their prices have not. The service on my last two visits (which were both in the last year) has been terrible. One was a busy night and we were a large table (maybe ten of us) and I dismissed it as a fluke. But I recently went with a group of five on a Tuesday night and the server took over an hour to take our entree order, and our entrees took about 40 minutes to arrive. A 20% gratuity was added to our checks because our table was five or more people. I know restaurants will add gratuity for an eight-top or better, but five? It felt like an excuse to give us terrible, unfriendly, slow service. Also, the food is mediocre at best. The sushi was acceptable, but if you want anything else, I suggest Ichiban or Shogun which are more reasonably priced and nearly equal in quality (but not quantity, Ichiban and Shogun will def give you more food, dollar for dollar.) tl;dr: overpriced and with very...
Read moreI have lived in bowling green for the past year and have became a regular at Yuki. The food is always great from the apps (gyoza, buta kakuni) to the miso soup, super fresh sushi (nigiri special board being my favorite), can’t forget the Sayuri cold sake and end the meal with the green tea ice cream. I normally sit at the sushi bar where you will be politely greeted by the super nice sushi chefs. Michaela is who normally waits on me and does a phenomenal job each and every time. Not only does she have my order memorized she always seems to be in a great mood and always staying busy and multitasking like a champ! She is Great with making suggestions off the menu and has helped me develop my taste. She’s great at explaining the nigiri sushi specials and making suggestions based on what ya like. Bowling Green is lucky to have Yuki and the owners of Yuki is lucky to have such a great staff all around! They make you...
