I was referred to this location by an employee of the nail shop next door that they had a salad similar to a Greek salad so I looked up the online menu and seen that they in fact did have a salad similar to a Greek salad called green leaves so I called to place an order and I stated that I would like to order a green leaves salad when the woman on the phone said whhhaaatttt we don’t have that I’m like well it says here you have a salad called green leaves and I started naming the ingredients off the menu and said it somewhat similar to a Greek salad she said nope we’re a German restaurant and hung up on me so I walked in since I was nested door and asked if this is there menu she said yes I said well it’s on your menu she leans forward and reads it off the menu and then says I asked for a salad with potatoesalad on it when not one time did I mention potatoe salad she was just clearly on Some kind of drug she was moving very fast and strangely and being obnoxiously loud and Confrontational and was sweating profusely it was honestly a very awkward strange encounter there was no reason for her to deny that they make the salad to begin unless she truly didn’t realize and then felt embarrassed by me showing it to her on the menu and then she immediately took offense and reacted very poorly and for this I would not recommend feeding my dog the leftovers from this place terrible customer service ...... I’m so thankful I video tapped the entire Encounter with your irate waitress she hung up on me on the phone so when I went in I had my phone on record the moment I walked in I never got loud and I never was out of line one time in fact I was never upset the waitress was a Lunatic and way out of line and didn’t know the menu whatsoever I simply Ordered a salad it was on your menu and she was not aware of that the chef seemed to barley understand English so since you want to lie I was post the video and share it on all the local social media sites and then we can let the public see who was upset lol I would never be upset over a salad misunderstanding and clearly from the many negative reviews you have poor customer service I have a large construction company and deal with many people daily and never once have I dealt with such Unprofessionalism but hey how professional is a waitress LOL after viewing the video I know you then will like to sit your server down for a talk she was insane to...
Read moreIt's a fun hobby doing these reviews, especially the food ones. Every now and then you come across a situation where you set a mental standard based on other reviews and the general overall look of the establishment from the internet, and then get your perceptions completely blown away.
Based on previous reviews and the overall look of things from the internet, I didn't set a super high bar for the Lucky Frog. It looked sort of authentic, but many places over hype the "authentic" and it's really just someones interpretation, right?
Today on all counts, this was an "authentic" dining experience. One that actually gave me goosebumps and even got a little emotional once.
Being of German heritage and having been stationed in Germany 1984-1987 in the United States Air Force, obviously, German cuisine is a big deal to me.
The service is personable and friendly. The place is small but roomy. Plenty of brews to choose from. I went with a Paulaner Oktoberfest Draft.
The food is authentic and spot on. I had a pork platter that had roast pork, schnitzel, and a wurst. She had a Hunters Schnitzel (Jaeger style of course). Then we had the Kaiserschmarm for dessert.
Plates were 100% clean when we were done. I was one brain cell away from licking plates here folks.
The emotional part came when the owner, named Simone came out to ask us how our meal was. In German restaurants, I try to remember a bit of the German language and gave my greetings and compliments in native tongue. The brief exchange between us in German brought back so many fond memories of me living in Germany.
Yes, this was an "experience". And we look forward to coming back often to enjoy those experiences over and...
Read moreWhat a horrible experience! A waste of my hard earned money for certain! I was finishing up a diet Mountain Dew and the waitress jerked it out of my hand and said I couldn’t bring it inside later. I found out why they bring bottled water and tack a dollar on your bill and you’re not allowed to bring in your own beverage because of that… They also provide no applesauce with the two tiny and I do mean tiny potato pancakes, and charge you for applesauce which everybody eats it with at 2J‘s. I had 6 to 8 beautiful big delicious potato pancakes for $6.99! These potato pancakes were about four bites, one even smaller than the other and I ask for a sub substitute for raw salmon which I couldn’t eat. They said there was none. The Waitresspushed a $22 entrée. For four potato pancakes.. No birthday dessert on the house, which is standard procedure at any good restaurant & a rude owner. Only three couples the whole night correction two couples a single at the bar and me. RIP OFF & When I ask the owner about the water bottle charge, she jerked it off my table yet they have a dishwasher, husband and wife team chefs or should I say cooks and an aging waitress… They could do two of those jobs themselves if they’re that hard up. $20 down the drain I didn’t have to waste and rude behavior from the owner’s wife one of the supposed to call chefs she’s just the PR person trying to get you back I’ve been to Germany and all through Bavaria and these potato pancakes suck as did the ambience rude German people I felt really awful afterwards. I wonder what they Fried them in… A disgusting couple of hours so sad for...
