We've been here three times now, each better than the last! Sunday brunch was quite a few months ago and we really enjoyed it. Kept saying we would go back but didn't get the chance until two weeks ago Saturday. Out for the cold day in the country, we stopped in on the way home for a 5pm early dinner. We were seated at a bar top. I had a glass of their red sangria. Very good, but very strong, I had to slip slowly! My husband had a Tullamore on the rocks. He ordered the crusted chicken over pasta....wow!! It was awesome! I got half a rack of ribs. They were faall off the bone tender, not dry at all and extremely flavorful! Served with sweet potato wedges -they call them fries but they were HUGE!! So good! We were served warm rolls and garlic herbed butter before our meals came and I almost liked the butter dish! Very cool jazzy combo playing that afternoon as well. We went back for dinner this past Friday. We called for reservations as we thought they would be busy. Good plan! We were seated quickly ( my only complaint, if you call it that, was we were the first table in the dining room and every time the front door opened I got blasted with artic air! Brrrrr). I ordered the Chocolate martini, so yummy that I had 2! My husband had a beer. Our waiter, AL, was so friendly. After hearing the specials I ordered the red pepper soup special. My husband got the crab and corn chowder. We got bread and rolls to the table first of course...and my only true complaint was that instead of offering more bread to go with the soup, when the soup was ordered the cleared the bread plates and butter! Anyway, all was forgiven once we began....the soups...both...we're wonderful! The red pepper soup was smooth and delightfully seasoned. With just the right bite. The crab and corn chowder was thick and hearty without being overly goopy as some chowders can be. Next was entrées; I got the seared salmon with orange ginger glaze and my husband got the shrimp scampi. The fish was cooked perfectly, the rice was Fluffy and the mixed steamed veggies still slightly crisp. It ended up being a bit too peppery for me, much to my disappointment. It tasted wonderful, but I just couldn't finish it due to the heat. My husband loved his dcampi, with big shrimp, tails on and really yummy sauce. We both were full and turned down desert. But will go back to try it out! There was a single jazz guitarist playing and it was the perfect dinner music!! Bottom line...we're bringing friends as soon as we can. I probably shouldn't post this......they'll get to busy!! Haha!! Oh, the the prices are so good too...alot of value here for your hard...
Read moreWe stopped here as it was across the street from our hotel (Residence Inn by Marriott, also a 5* visit) on an East Coast road trip over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We enjoy sitting at the bar when we can because we like the local chatter & recommendations (which we did tonight). We were graciously served by Kenny, Luis, and Dylan, who suggested local NJ beer for the hubs, and mixed a great extra dirty martini (oh, did I mention 3 olives!) for me. Both delicious. I dare not complain about the slightly soggy olives. The bread served before the meal was warm & crusty & light, with an exceedingly flavorful herb butter to accompany. We split a wedge salad which had the ideal blend of real blue cheese & bacon (one did not overwhelm the other), followed by a full rack of ribs (even though we split it, we still took half for lunch the following day). The ribs were accompanied by a honey biscuit, and sweet potato fries with a maple aioli. The ribs were fall-off -the-bone tender, with the balanced texture of soft, slow roasted meat & a slight crust of a quick broil. As a sweet potato connoisseur, I was hesitant about more "sweetness" to an already sweet vegetable but the maple aioli was delicious! (We will be searching Google for something similar, it was that good.) The guitarist in the bar played at a conversational volume (I purposely sought out a bar seat away from the music in anticipation of it being too loud, like I've experienced in almost every other bar in my life) but was exceptionally pleased when the volume was "just right" and the music choice wide ranging & appealing (Carlos Santana/Eagles/Chris Isaac ... something for every listener). The menu had something for everyone: salads, poke bowls, fish, burgers & steaks, chicken, etc., at varied prices. If you can't find something appealing here, there's something wrong with your taste buds. Finally, the owner camr around & introduced himself, inquiring if it meal was satisfactory. I can't say enough good things about this casual establishment... Except that there is not one near...
Read moreThis was a DoorDash order - I am in New Jersey for training (Sun - Fri), and this is the second time I've ordered from Stoney Brook Grille this week. Monday night, I had ordered a burger and fries, and it was absolutely delicious! I also had gotten the French onion soup, which was great as well. I wanted something different tonight, and I wanted to try a new restaurant, but the food was so good on Monday that I wanted to look at this place's menu again. Honestly, I couldn't decide for a bit because I wanted to try everything. I'm usually skeptical about ordering chicken because I feel like I eat so much of it trying to eat healthy and usually it is dry from most restaurants. I had read great reviews about this dish, so I ordered it... and I am so happy I did! The Marinated Half Chicken came with vegetables and mashed potatoes, and alllll of it was so amazing. The mashed potatoes reminded me of homemade mashed potatoes that I make back in North Carolina. The chicken was super juicy, super flavorful, and just amazing. Whatever you do, do not eat the roll until you have moved your chicken to the side a bit and then you need to dip your roll in the sauce that came on the chicken, and mashed potatoes because it is sooo good. Hahaha Apparently I was starving and I thought that wasn't enough food (just kidding)... because I also ordered the Fried Mozzarella Sticks (8), and I am very particular about those as well. They were so good and tasted better than the ones that I have rated my top mozzarella sticks. I am so happy that I found this place this week because I get tired of the same old fast food when I am staying in a hotel. I really wanted dessert and was sad there was nothing on the DoorDash menu for it, but that was okay. Let me tell you, the Marinated Half Chicken is A LOT of food! I couldn't even eat 3/4 if it, so I know I will have some really good leftovers tomorrow. Thank you so much for the...
