How did I not know about this fairly new Haitian restaurant? This Valrico/Brandon location has been open since April 2024. The original location is in Tampa. I would have never known it was there had I not been on my way to the strawberry fields. It's in the Eastshore Plaza which is where Sushi Ushi is located just off of SR60 (Brandon Blvd). It's most certainly a hidden gem.
They do dine-in and takeout orders. Just order at the counter. They will bring it out to you when it's ready. The service here is fantastic! The lovely lady at the counter was very helpful when asking if they had soursop drinks. She also mentioned that they have different sized platter portions (regular or large). I went with the regular portion of Griyo, or Griot (fried pork chunks). It comes with your choice of rice, fried plantains, piklis, and a red sauce. I just had to try the Diri Djon Djon. I've only had it one other time, and it's delicious. This one was no exception. The rice was fresh, fluffy, and perfect in every way. The pork was tender and seasoned well. I love that the fat of the pork shoulder was still attached. That's what makes it so tender. Delicious!
The red sauce and spicy piklis was a great addition. I paired it with the fried plantains. The Ji Korosol (guanabana) smoothie was pretty awesome. It had soursop & vanilla (maybe some nutmeg, or cinnamon maybe?) flavors that made it feel like a thin milk shake. I really loved it.
I have to go back and try my favorite Haitian dish of Legume, or Legim. Their menu has the Haitian Creole spelling versus the French. I like that. It's a cool cultural learning experience for me.
It's so great to have this type of cuisine so close to home. Don't pass this one up when...
Read moreI had the pleasure of having Kreyol Delight cater my baby baptism and let me tell you, there was not one complaint in the building. Not from the elders, not from the picky eaters or Non-meat eaters🤭. I actually had to guard some of my greedy family members from the kitchen to make sure everyone was fed 1st because they wanted 2nd's and 3rd plates for themselves. Everyone raved over the food. Definitely The Best haitian restaurant in town and money will spent. Trust me, you will not regret it. There's something for everybody on the menu. I would recommend the legume, rice and peas, black rice, red snapper, wings, and stewed chicken just to name a few. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're at home and Lucille, who is one of the owners will make you feel like a family member once you're done interacting with her. They are very nice, caring and genuine people. I will be a customer...
