Tibby's was the first "soul" food restaurant we visited when moving to Florida. Now to be honest, being from the Tri-State area, there are slim pickings of great soul-food restaurants where it doesn't taste like diet food served in a retirement facility. The first time we visited Tibby's, we were blown away!

We ordered based on our server's suggestions and tried the Shrimp & Andouille Sausage Gumbo, Chicken & Waffles, and Cajun Shrimp Pasta. Everything was amazing! I'm not sure if it was because of the terrible fast food we'd eaten in the first six months of living in FL, but the taste, texture and presentation of each meal was beyond compare.

We went back twice after and ordered the gumbo (again, each time); and I ordered my favorite item on the menu — it doesnt look like they serve it anymore, but it was similar to the seafood basket. It came with shrimp, softshell crabs, crawfish, fries, hush puppies, shrimp and a few other things. It was semi-expensive because it was always labeled as "market value" so whatever the going rate was depending on the season. But, they gave you SO much food. I'm a small person, but I can eat a great deal in one sitting and it was a lot of food.

Admittedly (and obviously), Florida does VERY well with seafood. I wish you could get full-bodied crabs down here, but the soft shell crabs are a great treat to remind you of up north. The seafood at Tibby's has yet to disappoint. The last time, I visited (about two weeks ago), the presentation was not 100%. I assume it is because of the short staff right now, but the food (at least mine) was great. This time, I was out to eat with friends, and for their first time there, they were not impressed which is why I docked one star. Even though they might not return with me, this may just be my husband and I's spot until guests come to visit because we will definitely...

I'm so glad I got to update my review of Tibby's, a fantastic New Orleans cuisine restaurant located on Hwy 60 in Brandon, Florida. It's been about a year since my last visit. My boyfriend and I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday evening around 9 pm, and the place was still buzzing with a casual and fun vibe.

Our experience was fantastic from the get-go, with a friendly hostess greeting us and seating us right away in the bar area. I've had the pleasure of enjoying their brunch a couple of times since my original review, and I highly recommend their fried catfish and fried shrimp with sides of grits and red beans & rice - it's absolutely delicious! This time, I opted for the half Pork Chop Po Boy, minus the bun and toppings, which came with a small boneless pork loin chop. While it was seasoned to perfection and lightly breaded, it was unfortunately a bit overcooked and a bit tough. I think brining the pork would make a huge difference in terms of flavor and moisture.

On the other hand, my boyfriend's Muffeleta was a game-changer - Tibby's makes the best one we've ever had, and it's massive! Boyfriend could only eat half at dinner and we ended up splitting the other half for lunch the next day. We also indulged in a a couple Hurricanes, which I always enjoy at Tibby's. With its moderate price range and fantastic service quality, Tibby's is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic New Orleans cuisine. We'll definitely be back for brunch, lunch, or dinner, as everything on the menu is simply amazing. If you haven't been to Tibby's yet, do yourself a favor and give it a try - you won't be...

Our server, Chelsea, was friendly, helpful & knowledgeable about food being offered. Over the top exceptional service.

Husband ordered the Voodoo Magic cocktail ($11). A powerful spirits drink with Southern Comfort, Smirnoff Vodka, Disaronno Amaretto, pineapple juice, orange juice, sour mix and topped off with a splash of cranberry juice. Just wow. I ordered the Hurricane ($12). A delicious combination of Bacardi Silver Rum, triple sec, Bacardi 151 mixed with house made Hurricane mixer and topped off with Bacardi Black Rum. Best Hurricane I’ve had in quite a while.

Our appetizer was Boudain Spring Rolls. Lightly fried spring rolls stuffed with boudin & jack cheese. Served with creole dijonnaise. Reg – $8.75 | Large – $12.75

Husband ordered the Chicken & Waffles. Melted cheddar cheese, peppered bacon, fresh Belgian waffles. Served with homemade brandy sauce -$16.95. Loved it. The delicious brandy butter sugar syrup was amazing.

I ordered the traditional CRAWFISH ÉTOUFFÉE with a Seasoned roux, vegetables, shrimp or crawfish – $17.95. The best ÉTOUFFÉE I’ve had outside of New Orleans.

Food arrived hot & delicious.

Drinks kept filled.

I highly recommend this restaurant and plan to...
