Stopped in passing through, wanted to eat local and support a smaller business rather than corporate chain. Our server was under the influence of some type of drugs. Kind of rude to boot. Took off the meal that we waited 15 min for the honey mustard dipping sauce for and the food was cold at about 15 min mark, as any food would be. Walked past us several times without asking if we needed a refill.. not to mention the first cup my husband got, visibly had something on the rim of the glass that was not coke/pepsi… mentioned at the beginning that we weren’t from here and needed a minute. A MINUTE. Came back 10 min later and had a huffy attitude about the questions we asked about food on the menu..later on I do recall hearing the other waitress (all dark hair) say to the hostess that she “was going to check on them” meaning the table behind us, because I assume they’d been sitting there a few min after being seated. But from what I could tell we and the table behind us were in the same section that the waitress I had would’ve been the same for them.. so the dark haired waitress took over for her. the hostess was a very nice girl and the food was good from what I had but would recommend if you wind up with a server who is wearing a mask and has blonde in her hair to not be seated in her section, over all just very imminent that she was under the influence. And yet somehow our bill even with my husbands meal being taken off we paid $36.xx ??? Not sure how that’s even possible! We had a water a coke/pepsi and mozzarella app and my eggs florentine. Don’t believe that,...
Read moreSeveral months ago, I met my daughter, her husband, and my slightly over a year old granddaughter for breakfast. I understand that restaurant prices have risen due to wholesale food purveyors marking up their products to them. But sometimes, as in my visit, these diners will gouge their customers. Along with the three adult orders, my daughter ordered a plate of steamed veggies for my granddaughter. No price for this was listed on the menu, as it isn't a regular item. When the veggies arrived, they consisted of 1 carrot cut into pieces and a few broccoli florets. Probably at a cost to the restaurant of no more than 75 cents, if that. When I got the bill, I was shocked...$9.95! Instead of taking an excellent markup of, say, 500%+ ($3.95), they had to gouge us for over a 1200% profit. Hardly a "family-friendly" establishment. We used to eat here frequently, but I will never set foot in this diner again. Nor will several of my other relatives and friends. There is too much competition in the area to have to put up with being taken advantage of. These are the little things that ruin an establishment's reputation.
Oh, as an addendum to my review, after reading other reviews, the owner/management seem like they couldn't care less, as they never reply or engage the reviewer in any constructive dialogue. Very...
Read moreA Solid Dining Experience at Branford Townhouse.
Branford Townhouse delivers a reliable dining experience with a welcoming vibe. We were quickly seated in a comfortable, family-friendly space that had a nice warmth to it. The ample seating options make it easy to settle in without feeling cramped.
The menu showcases seasonal specials, each described in a way that makes you want to try them all. The diner was mostly clean, though some tables around the booths showed a bit of wear, which speaks to its popularity.
Service was sharp and attentive, with enough staff on hand to ensure we were well taken care of.
Now, let’s talk about the food. The home fries were a standout—crispy and satisfying without being burnt. The caramel apple French toast was solid, holding its shape well, though it might come off as a bit heavy on the caramel. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll appreciate it.
The funky monkey pancakes were tasty and packed with flavor, but a bit less whipped cream would make for a cleaner plate.
Overall, Branford Townhouse offers a straightforward, enjoyable dining experience, making it a great choice for anyone looking for hearty meals in a relaxed setting. Definitely worth a visit if you're...
