Red Lantern — Restaurant in Brea

We have been on the hunt for some excellent Chinese Food in OC, especially when Yen Ching started not being as great as it used to be.

Thanks the the great referrals on Nextdoor, we have found a “gem” in Brea. The Red Lantern, located on the corner of Center St and Brea Blvd is AMAZING! Abby has taken care of us on 2 occasions (and 1 To Go order).

The food is fresh, beautifully prepared and exceptionally delicious. Tonight we had the braised green beans in an excellent sauce. We also enjoyed Beef Chow Fun (Abby’s suggestion), Sesame Chicken, Crispy Beef and edamame. I can honestly say that each dish was so good! My two new favorites are the green beans and the Chow Fun.

Abby served up some fresh, hot red bean sesame balls for a sweet treat. Oh my gosh, so wonderful!

I was imagining a group of Placentian’s (from Nextdoor) going there and taking the place over one evening!

I almost didn’t write anything because I wanted to keep this place secret, but knowing how sweet these people are and the quality of their food, they deserve to have everyone try them out.

My favorite dishes are their Moo Shu Pork and War Wonton Soup. We've also tried their walnut shrimp, sweet and sour pork and curry chicken, which were also delicious, and the curry is so rich and flavorful. I noticed that all of the meat is cooked beautifully and very tender. Do note that they stop seating in the dining room an hour before closing, as we found out when we first found the place at 8 PM and had to order to go. The woman waiting to take our order was fairly impatient and must've asked 4 times what we wanted and kept looking up at the clock as if we were wasting her time when she easily could've done other tasks while we made our decision. Upon our first bite, the food was delicious and we knew despite our initial interaction with the employee that we'd try their food again, and we have zero regrets in doing so. I am an employee at Kindred Hospital Brea, and the delivery guy came at 12:16 to leave food for our house supervisor and he said she still needs to pay cash i said i will call and let her know you are here but there is a rapid response and is unable to leave at the moment and before he left he called a lady at the restaurant and gave the phone to me, she was really rude first off and I tried to explain the situation and she said let kindred brea know we will never deliver there agin and he left at 12:22. Remind you this person who ordered the food from there orders there alot and this is the first time this situation happened and as a business they were not understanding and did even give her 10 mins due to the situation.
