Small place tucked into a small medical building strip mall. I drive by here all the time. My husband showed me a video and we decided to try it out for the first time today. The inside is pretty small probably about 10 tables it's a walk-up counter but they do serve you quickly they have a variety of aguas frescas, Horchata, Mexican Coke, jarritos drinks and the usual other beverages. The menu has standard Mexican dishes their tacos with a variety of meats they have sopes, quesadillas, asada fries amongst other dishes. My husband and I each ordered tacos de cabeza , the tortillas are handmade, soft full of flavor. The meat is fresh not greasy like other places. The tacos come with onions, cilantro and a hefty scoop of fresh guacamole. They have a little salsa bar next to the counter with about three different types of salsas, pickled red onions, fresh lime and some cucumber and radishes. It reminded me of the tacos we had in Tijuana or the tacos I have when I go to Guadalajara in Mexico.
We waited less than 10 minutes to get our food, it was very busy we got there at the right time and got the last table for two.
I also got an agua de Pina but they also have the pepino which they were out of which is a good sign it must be very good.
We plan on coming back and trying different meats like Al pastor lengua, chorizo, tripas and asada.
The meal was very reasonable for our five tacos my agua fresca and tip it was about $25.
Great little hidden gem in Brea of all places. We live down the street will be here many more times I think we found our favorite taco spot.
Highly recommend if you...
Read moreSaugy bread very little flavor. I think it was watered down for the white folk in Brea California. The sent of oil was all over the bread. Honestly, not trying to be rude but taco bell has much more flavor. My hands smelled like oil when I was done eating. A good Mexican restaurant leaves your hands smelling like cilantro, onions, garlic, cloves , Oregano and maybe new Mexico chili pods. Perhaps it was just the torta I ate but then none of my children commented which is what they do when they eat at a good restaurant. I was surprised to see so many Hispanic people there like they were repeated customers. Maybe I was just singled out because of my Mexican European look. They call us Pochos. Not sure what it was but I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone who knows their Mexican food like my mother made, like my grand mother made, like my father made, like my grandfather made. Honestly, jack n box has more flavor in the tacos. Maybe these were not Mexican people making the food, they may have been Romanians. Sorry, but honesty is the...
Read moreThe worst! I preordered online cause I work and need to pick it up so I can eat. I get there and the lady tells me 5 more mins. I waited almost past 15 mins. I’m watching her run to everyone else giving them their order. I’m patient so I’m waiting until I notice people that barely came in getting their stuff first. I finally approach her and tell her I’ve been waiting way past the time she told me. I see her go behind the counter and grab my food that was just sitting there the whole time. What kind of service is that? I don’t mind waiting but for her to not even tell me it was ready and I’m just sitting there. I would’ve been waiting for an hour if it was up to her. She needs to learn that every customer should be treated the same way not for her to pick and choose who she wants to run and treat well. Then ignore others like they didn’t pay for their food. That’s not a way to act or treat anyone. She’s the older lady with the white hair. She needs to take a training class. I saw what she was doing and it’s honestly disgusting to...
