I ordered dinner from the Green Tomato Grill directly through the site.. went to pick the food up and came home to eat it since the restaurant was closing at 9 and we'd ordered in the 8 o'clock hour. Orders are sealed in the brown bag so I felt no need to check it before leaving the restaurant since I've never had an issue with them before. Once home I sat down to eat and began emptying the bag, realized MY food was missing. I called the restaurant and a worker answered the phone and I told them what had happened. They couldn't give me an explanation as to why my order wasn't in the bag. Didn't state whether it was made and forgotten to be put in or was never made altogether. Neither made sense to me so I was even more frustrated. They said they'd leave a note for the manager to call me because I wanted a refund for my order. They said they couldn't refund me because it was placed through Doordash even though I placed it directly through the gtg site. It made no sense again. Either way, I agreed to wait for the call and hung up and got food elsewhere. I've called the restaurant a handful of times at various times of the day and have never gotten a hold of a manager. Keep being told I'll get a call and I got one while I was at work, stepped out to call back to talk and of course the manager had just left. I just find it ridiculous that no responsibility has been taken and that I lost and wasted money. Granted I do not regularly eat there but this alone makes me never want to eat there again and to also let others know of this experience so they don't eat there again either. Clearly they don't care about returning customers or ensuring customers are satisfied with their experience. It's been a few years since I worked in the food service industry but it's obvious the quality of service has gone down. Don't waste your money here and if you do - check your bags cause they can't be trusted to get your...
Read moreCute little healthy restaurant inside a retail plaza that used to have a Vons before it closed down. This place is somewhat of a gem as not many around like this when you are craving a clean organic grain bowl or paleo/keto entree made of fresh ingredients!
They have poke bowls, build your own bowls, and have many diet specific options. If you're Paleo or Keto enthusiasts. I got the chimichurri bowl and opted for salmon as my protein since they use wild salmon. Too many places use farmed salmon, so gotta ask if that's important to you. They confirmed it. I was a first customer, so the cashier offered me a free drink, which I got the mint lemonade. It tasted pretty godo at first, but it seems like they used a nonsugar sweetener, and it left an odd aftertaste. It tasted extra sweet but in an odd way. I watered it down, but it was still too sweet or weird tasting. It's a popular drink, but I wasn't a fan.
I have one criticism. I got cilantro brown rice in my bowl, but it just tasted like plain brown rice?! I didn't want to make a fuss, so I kept it as is. Another thing is there were dried up rice grains in my portion of rice. The kind of dry that occurs when you have rice exposed to open air for a certain amount of time and it loses all moisture. These grains got dehydrated. They were in my bowl. I had to spit them out. I get it. It was the end of the evening close to closing time, but it's still not okay. I can be understanding and still share what happened. I would have said something, but it was nearing closing time. I should have. Anyway, i still like the place and will return. I hope that doesn't happen again, and if so, I'll nicely notify them and get it corrected.
The place has a really cute bench patio for diners. I sat outside. They had hanging mini lights that created a relaxing, quiet mood. I liked it and will def come back! They have many green and superfood options. Vegan and...

Chimichurri Bowl with steak, chickpea, onion, tomato, shishito pepper, mushroom, brown rice & chimichurri sauce.
So colorful and flavorful. Their bowls are really good. I do feel like the size has gotten smaller than it used to be though. Everything is in to-go containers, even when dining in. I used to love the presentation when they had regular bowls. It complimented the cute decor.
And, of course, I always have to order one of my favorites…Crispy Chickpeas! So addictive! Love how crunchy it is! It’s so good!
Definitely one of my go-to...
