This is the best Chinese food in the area, HANDS DOWN!! They have 1 dish that differs them from the rest, their sesame chicken! Most places make it with a sweet sauce but Dragon Palace makes it like my childhood favorite place, with a gravy!! It’s so delicious and comes with plenty of veggies. I’ve had dine in and carry out and it’s hot, plentiful, and fresh each time! The rice is always perfectly cooked and seasoned and moist! I hate dry rice and I don’t have that issue here. Everything I’ve had so far (beef fried rice, chicken fried rice, crab Rangoon, egg rolls, and sesame chicken) has been delicious! Price isn’t too bad either. For my father and I to sit down and eat, we only ever spend $30 and that includes drinks, individual rice orders, and a dish to share. Dine in is quick, not a long wait even with other patrons. And carry out times have been correctly quoted, where my food is ready upon arrival! I live in Indiana, and even after a 30+ minute drive.. i got home and my food was still steaming! That’s how fresh it is for reference… Nice and welcoming staff. I will absolutely here visiting again soon, and...
Read moreBackground: I was on the hunt for a new go-to spot after my usual place changed ownership and, sadly, everything went downhill. Enter Dragon Palace—my first time ordering from here. I tried the potstickers, egg rolls, crab rangoon, Mongolian beef, and beef fried rice. Potstickers: Totally fine. So fine, in fact, I forgot I ate them 10 minutes later. Egg Rolls: See above. Crunchy, but nothing to write home about—unless home really loves average egg rolls. Crab Rangoon: Another okay dish in the grand lineup of okay-ness. Mongolian Beef: I ordered the large for $16 and received the standard takeout container—you know, the long white one with the clear lid—but the contents barely covered the bottom. If that’s a large, I’m the King of England. Beef Fried Rice: Bland and flavorless. I’ve had more excitement from a plain bowl of rice—and that’s saying something. Packaging: Not a fan of the styrofoam. That was my initial red flag on this meal. Lunch special - styrofoam acceptable $60 meal - NO Final Verdict: The food was okay—but not 'tell-my-grandkids-about-it' okay. More of a “well, that happened” meal....
Read moreI am really perplexed by all the people who think this place is great. Our group of 5 dined here last night. If the food was great (which it is not), I would have been willing to overlook the lack of ambiance and awful service. We were seated right away but waited 20 minutes for a drink order. The service level never improved from there. In additional, the restaurant so cold that most of the diners in the room wore their coats to eat.
Since there were 5 of us, we did try quite a few things and were impressed with none. Bland spring rolls, rubbery pot stickers were how we started the meal. The crispy duck that one person ordered was actually soggy duck with no flavor. The beef quality in both the mongolian beef and the szechuan beef was poor. It was chewy and dry with too much grizzle. The chicken in the chicken dishes was bland. While the shrimp was fine in the seafood dish, the scallops were not and the oyster sauce was as bland as bland gets.
I honestly think they have too many dishes on the menu to execute any of them well. They should pare down the menu to just a few things and do...
