It was an awful experience and ILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN..
We arrives and everything seemed okay but when we sat down it took a while for the surver to come to our table. Remind you, it was 3am. So it wasn't busy.. Our server had a slightly rude attitude like she didn't wanna be there. We brushed it off and let it go.
We recieved our soup first which actually tasted good. But then... We got our main dish............... I got a steak and cheese sandwhich and my cousin got a burger. My cousin asked for well done and there was still pink in the middle. It was also very plain... My sandwhich wasn't even sautade together. It tasted like everything was just thrown together and chopped poorly. The worst part was that my breading was so soggy that when I tried to pick up my sandwich it just fell apart and all my steak and cheese fell through the side. It was disapointing. i didnt even get to really eat it.. I just picked at it. Also. My meat looked slightly silver.. What ever that means..
Then when we went up to the counter to pay the lady was pushing buttons on her computer and refused to acknowledge that we were there for two minutes exactly once I started keeping track. (she was older with dark hair. Looked like a manager) She could have at least said "ill be with you in a moment" instead of just completely ignoring us. Also, she never even asked how everything was. Just gave me the receipt and hovered over me watching while I was signing and trying to write a tip. Before even taking my cousins money for her bill..It was very irritating.
As we were walking out the door, the people behind us were paying and I heard her ask how their food was.
Great customer service guys... Ill NEVER go...
Read moreEver since we left Wheaton and thus Seven Dwarves over twelve years ago, we've been looking for the small family restaurant where, as the saying goes, everyone knows your name. (And you know theirs too.) We didn't find it in Bolingbrook, so now we're looking around the Tinley area. While I'm not sure Olympia Star will be that place - it'll take several trips to know that and certainly no one could replace Sam and Emmers - it's great in all the ways that matter!
The atmosphere here is inviting and the restaraunt sparkling clean and bright. The service is absolute perfection. Our server was both warm and friendly without being fake or syrupy as well as quick and attentive without rushing us or hovering. Between the atmosphere and the server it was a pleasure to eat there.
All of the food was good - nothing truly spectacular, perhaps, but quite good. There were five of us and we all ordered totally different meals - from skillets to scrambled eggs to chopped steak - and all of us were very happy with our food. Everything was hot, filling, and full of flavour.
Their prices are perhaps a smidgen higher than a "pure" family restaraunts, but it's only by a few dollars. As a really rough estimate, I'd say the meals average $12-$15. The menu is fairly large though, so you can almost certainly find something to suit your tastes and wallet.
In short, I highly...
Read moreThis restaurant would be considered a "Greek family restaurant". I often wonder if they just have a base plan they use for all of these restaurants as most of them have been opened in the '80s have menus the size of a novel and they're still going. The food here was actually not too bad although the Greek potatoes were extremely dry with no sauce of any kind. The waitress told us that it depends on who is in the kitchen is what kind of food you going to get. The chicken parmesan for some reason use a grilled chicken which was not seasoned in any way and was dry as a bone. They smother the chicken in mozzarella cheese I'm guessing with the hopes of seasoning the chicken or hiding the fact that it's so dry. They really should use a fried breast instead of a grilled one. The meat sauce was pretty good though. The Greek chicken comes in two sizes, half chicken (which takes half an hour to cook) or you can get the breast but for some reason they charge the same price. The chicken was bone dry and was moderately flavored. The rice was really good though. The chicken and rice soup was delicious though a bit thick and floury. The restaurant decor is standard fare although they did have a really cool Christmas village which I highly recommend checking out. Overall not a bad restaurant, great if you are coming off of a bender or a late night out as they are...
