Just so everyone is aware of this particular Eggzhead Cafe near 170th and Oak Park Ave. My husband and I were out to breakfast with my mom this morning and what had turned into a fun family outing ending up being not only a disappointment but being treated by the owner as if we were an irritant and liars. We have been here many times over several years and the waitresses are usually friendly and helpful. Just last week my husband and I came and was served by one of the older blond waitresses. This waitress who served us on that occasion was not only friendly but helpful and fun.
On this occasion however we we served by a dark haired waitress. My husband began noticing several things with her behavior toward us and a couple of other minority customers versus other customers. It started with straws. Them getting them w/o asking even with water vs us not.
Then when she brought out my husband's food and my mom and my toast but not our food.My husband kept looking around, I told him it was ok and to just eat. Then about 10 to 15 min later our food came. I pretty much wasn't hungry by then so I took a bite or two and got it to go. Another couple had come in during this time, got water with straws. This same waitress brought all their food together.
Now as I said earlier my husband and I have been coming here for years and have had wonderful service without issue. So he talked to the person at the register who was the shift manager. He said he would let the owner know. My husband asked was the owner around and could he speak to him. When the owner came my husband explained everything to himand the owner said people have to ask for straws which is a lie. The waitresses there have always given straws. Just last week we were given straws and just kept making excuses for her behavior. I then explained to him how she barely looked at us just put the stuff on our table, the time frame between our meals and her behavior. He said to me maybe she was having a bad day. I told him that's no excuse to treat a customer that way. He told me he is not going to let me insinuate that she is racist when I told him what had occurred. I told him I am not insinuating anything I am stating facts. He then said she has been there for a year and never had any complaint. His other waitress was very kind. I was then told well you can't compare waitresses. I said all of them are supposed to be kind and he just shrugged his shoulders. No apologies, no I will speak with her, nothing. I will never give my money to that...
Read moreTerrible management - please think again before coming here. My sister, her husband and my 1 year old nephew arrived at the restaurant 20 mins before I did. Upon arrival, she told the owner, who was tending the host desk, that we will be a party of 4 adults and 2 children, and, because of the children and the cold (was 20 degrees this day) that we do not want to sit by the door. Despite the restaurant being empty, he told her she has to wait for the whole party to arrive before being seated. When I made it to the restaurant, which was empty, I found my sister waiting inside but my brother in law was outside with my nephew in the car to keep him from running around, which would not have been a problem if they were seated. I walked in and said hi to my sister she told me to tell the man we are all here and she warned me that he has an attitude and had been giving her an attitude while they waited. I went to the man and said hi we are a party of 4 with 2 kids we would like a table not next to the door. With a HUGE attitude and disgusting tone the he says I have this table or that table, both literally right next to the door. My response was no thank you. Mind you, the restaurant was EMPTY. He then says ok. When he said ok, I responded with you are a bad guy. Which he truly is.
He then AGGRESSIVELY comes around the counter to get in my face and my husband stopped him and told him to back up. I felt as if he was trying to physically intimidate me, not knowing my husband and brother in law were nearby, while I was holding my 1 year old child. We then left the restaurant and will never ever go back. He ended up being the owner which is so unfortunate. He is a very very rude person and I would not recommend anyone to eat there. He is not accommodating at all and has a i don’t Care attitude. Save yourself the time and find a place that’s worth it. I give this place 0 stars.
With so many breakfast options in the area, we opted to go to Lumes, down the street, and the service was accommodating and much more family oriented, especially to...
Read moreI don’t know why I’ve never done a review of Eggheadz before? I visit this breakfast locale at least 3 times a month. Eggheadz is crowded, all the time, which is a good indicator that you’re about to experience some great breakfast. Don’t mind the wait: it’ll be worth it. I’ve never been to this establishment when it’s experienced a small gathering. It jumps and it moves rather fast. This morning I had a flat Denver omelette w/extra mushroom, light browned, hash brown potatoes and rye toast. I’d never heard of a “flat omelette” before eating here. I am used to the traditional, overlay omelette. I wasn’t sure I’d like it, but I wasn’t to skeptical because they’ve always served delicious offerings. The omelette was DELICIOUS! Make sure you add the pepper Jack cheese: it tops off the taste. The toast, with grape jelly was good, freshly toasted and lightly buttered. The hash brown potatoes were cook exactly as I requested. What I love most about the food is that it’s fresh and never greasy. The coffee’s good and they’ve always my Sugar-in-the-Raw. My server today was Linda. Do ask for her: she’s a delight. Simply request “Linda from Florida” and you won’t be disappointed. She’s attentive and such a pleasure to engage. The host staff are always kind, friendly and thoughtful. You’ll notice upon entering the restaurant that it’s been recognized by several local newspapers and even TripAdvisor. I keep going to Eggheadz because they deliver good food. Btw, the menu’s vast. They not only serve breakfast, but brunch and lunch as well. The place, though crowded, is CLEAN. You’ll appreciate a clean place to eat. The only think Eggheadz lacks is a bar. I wouldn’t be surprised if one may eventually be added. Be sure to get there early. Why? Thought the parking lot is large, this establishment is well known in this Chicagoland suburb: it stays full. The entire staff is friendly. The food is fresh, good w/an ever expanding menu. Eggheadz large breakfast restaurant w/patrons who’ve come to enjoy all that Eggheadz...
