Good evening I hope you are well.
We love your restaurant. I flew in last year to take my parents out and to my surprise, my 68 year old parents allowed us to forego Red Lobster for Hook and Reel.
This was a huge fete.
Since I was a child, Red Lobster was the standard for high end dining. As my sister and I traveled, we tried to get my parents to venture out, try something different. Nope. Always Red Lobster. I came in last month, a week before mother days and that’s where she wanted to go. Praise God cuz I can’t eat another cheddar biscuit! I just want you to know why I have this request.
Today my 68 year old mother called upset. She had purchased something a few days ago and it was overcooked. Between the restaurant hours and her taking care of my dad who has sporadic seizures (she’s his home care provider), she ended up coming back days after the purchase.
Make a long story short, she tried to get a full refund and the staff was dismissive. The manager was not friendly and even though she told my mom she would refund the money, she sent another worker over to offer her a $10 gift card.
The total was $14.
My mother is floored. She called me to see if I could get her $14 refund back. I am asking if you could please refund her the money for the meal. It’s so much bigger than the amount. She’s a different generation. She didn’t understand why they didn’t apologize and offer a refund.
Anywho, I thank you for listening. Hopefully, I look forward to returning in the future.
Always my best, Dawn

Read moreI never take the time to provide reviews but tonight I felt it was necessary because in my 45 years I’ve never encountered horrible customer service to this capacity. The bartender Meeka who I never had an encounter with until today made me feel like I did something personal to her …. made me feel like If I could give zero stars I would. She was beyond rude!! First off, She was missing from the bar for 20 minutes before I could ask for a drink I asked for 4 shots she displayed attitude with eye rolling gestures ignored my request and she NEVER gave me the drinks. I’m in the customer service industry. Actually I”OWN “ a salon and good customer service and respect is what we pride on. her mannerism was un acceptable and she purposely over charged me $40 for two drinks a lemon drop and a patron shot. She didn’t charge the person next to me AnYThING not one red cent for her “lemon Drop “ then made the announcement “ informing the customer next to me “you never have a bill since when you have a bill” this bartender is stealing from the establishments giving away drinks, was rude disrespectful and a hood rat with no class it’s so unfortunate customer service has resulted to being bad due to establishments desperate need for help . I bartend for 20 years befor I opened my small business and I perfected providing good customer service. I had to ask another employee to provide me with drinks because I refused to give Meeka or anyone providing horrible customer service my hard...
Read moreI highly recommend Hook and Reel of Country Club Hills. From the moment we walked in, I was impressed how the restaurant that was once a Applebee's did not resemble it at all. The restaurant was decorated very nicely, the booths were comfortable and the Restaurant was VERRRRY CLEAN. Our server's name was Mina, she was Great! She made awesome recommendations and constantly checked on us. This is a black owned establishment, I met the owner LV (im not sure if she said Elvie or L.V) speaking with her, I told her how we enjoyed everything about the restaurant. When she told me that she was the owner, I was even more proud! I mean I cannot say anything bad about this restaurant. Food was excellent, ambiance excellent, Adult beverage excellent, Service excellent! Hell even the cold water was delicious. Lastly, during these pandemic times constant cleaning and sanitation is a must, there was a young man by the name of Darryl who was on top of that, when a table left, this man properly cleaned the table and vacuumed the booth. That alone speaks volumes that Hook and Reel wants you to feel safe. As a black woman who wants to support black businesses Hook and Reel Country Club Hills has set the bar very HIGH, I know several restaurants that would benefit from a lesson. Anyway, keep up the great work we will...
